Fantastic visit to the USA for Korea. Well played 2-0 loss in game 1, even better 1-1 draw in game 2. Team looked significantly better under interim Hwang In-sun than under Yoon Deok-yeo.
They straight-up outplayed them for large portions of that draw. US goal in stoppage should have counted (wasn't offsides) but could also argue Korea should never have been down to 10, so a wash in my opinion. Just makes me even more upset how badly we squandered our opportunity at the world cup to come out as a borderline first-tier team. Such potential here that went to waste.
In fairness to the USA, they are missing a lot of key players and the team that was there was drop dead exhausted. However, still good team and yeah Korea outplayed them for stretches. Totally agree with the second paragraph. I was furious with how Yoon Deok-yeo approached the buildup, team selection, tactics, everything. Notable that Hwang did not include any of the CBs that played in the WWC for Yoon. I'm still floored when I think about Hwang Bo-ram starting against France.
Meh, I usually root for them but no need to be fair. They still had most of their good players and sure, they were low on energy given the schedule, but Korea was jetlagged and barely had any time to adjust before playing which I'd posit to be a much bigger negative. The US also flat out didn't respect Korea and played accordingly. The way many of them were smirking and laughing at Koreans playing hard / tackling rubbed me the wrong way. It's like when you're playing basketball against a kid you know you're bigger and better than and when you get outplayed you play it off as a joke and say "hey man dont take it so seriously." The arrogance of that team is off the charts. Screw them and glad we ruined Jill Ellis's final game.
Actually didn't see what you describe in the second paragraph. What I can say is the US players were very complimentary of Korea post-match.

Strange choice. Each of Bell's tenure lasts for 2-3 years with usually no tears lost from club/NT side after his departure.
I don't get this one at all. I know for a fact there were far better coaches that expressed interest. The KFA said they wanted someone with a good trophy case. I think they got a little too focused on the fact he won Champs League and the German league in 2015 with Frankfurt and missed the point that he's been awful everywhere else and based on track record they'll be in the market for new head coach again around 2021.
There are tall women in the Korean volleyball and basketball teams. It makes me wonder why there aren't any in the Korean women's soccer team. I couldn't tell how different in general the heights of the teams were because the camera was at a very high vantage point. I just remember that the Korean women's team had a lot of short players in the past. He really said that? Still, a compliment is a compliment.

Not Jill Ellis because she's not interested in moving. However, yes could grab a big name if they had the budget. They told me they didn't though, as evidenced from being unable to agree to terms with their second choice candidate who was European. More I'm hearing from various people about Bell, though, the better a hire it looks. His frequent job movement comes down to the resources he's given in a job. If he feels they are insufficient, he jumps ship. So, if the KFA have made a serious commitment to the women's team as he feels they have done, and if they live up to that, should be fine.
No, first time. Which in and of itself is a good marketing opportunity. Far more people have heard about this than would have done with a domestic coach. Plus, he played with Juergen Klopp and one of his first coaching gigs was under Klopp, so that has gotten attention (and a question at the press conference today). Plus fact that he was working in the English Premiership when he took this job. *I should qualify that: to the best of my knowledge this is the first time.
