Idk there’s a lot of smoke but their all reporters with zero integrity and trying to get clicks. Lamps said it himself... it’s an easy link. It could happen but I wouldn’t say it’s a lock.
Here's what it looks like: One last arrival for this week‘s camp in Annapolis...Welcome to the #USMNT, @DuaneHolmes! 🇺🇸 👋🏽 pic.twitter.com/J4orMbRg2a— U.S. Soccer Men's National Team (@USMNT) May 29, 2019
Which is, in fact, what happened. My cable provider showed the second leg as schedule filler the other night, so I took the chance to re-watch the game a few times. Just after Holmes was subbed off - but just before Derby equalised - the commentator said "it may not be visible to the naked eye, but word from the touchline is that Holmes is suffering from that thigh problem and that's why he's been substituted." The problem/injury may not have been obvious, but it was pretty clear that he was not 100%. Derby lined up in their usual 4-3-3, but with Duane at the base of the 3 instead of the usual RM or RW, presumably to switch from 4-3-3 to 4-1-4-1 to get control of the midfield and use that control to open Leeds up, but it didn't work. Duane was OK at the beginning, but was drifting further out of the game as the half wore on and was nowhere near as dynamic as he usually is, or the Derby gameplan required. Lampard obviously trusts Duane and IMO it's a positive that he started him in such a key role, even though he was a) out of position and b) not fully fit. Pity it didn't work on the day.

If he doesn't feature heavily I will be very disappointed. Loved his fight and energy against Jamaica. Looks like the classic street fighter type the US has made its name on
Unsurprisingly, Chelsea have been granted permission to speak to Lampard. A fee of four million sterling has already been agreed, so it's rally a done deal. Lampard's support coaches are also covered by the package, so Duane will be dealing with a new coach and coaching team from the end of next week.
That’s unfortunate for him as Lamps really seemed to rate him as the season went on. Fortunately for him tho, Mason Mount likely won’t be back meaning he should have a better chance at playing a massive role if he can win the new coach’s favor.

No. Transfer embargo on Chelsea for Financial Fair Play violations means they can't sign anyone. Which may be one of the reasons they decided to actually go with Lampard: the improvement in the quality of play of several Derby players over the season was startling. Ireland don't have very good players (we're calling up League of Ireland players these days ) but even so, Derby CB Richard Keogh has only won 25 caps. Last season, to paraphrase Gery Neville, he looked like he was being controlled by Franz Beckenbauer with a PlayStation. Even if there wasn't an embargo, Duane isn't the level of player Chelsea would be interested in. Is he EPL level? I think so, but not CL level.
Didn't play in the Friendly versus Sarasota Tuesday. Derby play Bristol today. I don't even know if he traveled with the team to Florida.
Philip Cocu took over as manager of Derby after the Lampard exit. Three Dutch titles are manager of PSV and a below par 6 month stint as Fenerbahce. Pretty solid hiring by DC. Interested to see what Cacu can bring to the table, how he can utilize Holmes, and if he's what DC needs to achieve promotion.
He did not. https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2019/07/rams-all-set-for-florida-trip "Andre Wisdom and Duane Holmes will remain in Derby to undergo medical treatment on injuries"

Playing for U23s today: Derby County manager Phillip Cocu says Duane Holmes will play for the U23s tonight ✅ The midfielder hasn’t featured so far this season due to a quad injury ⚽️#dcfc #dcfcfans pic.twitter.com/JoGFSrb0Ax— BBC Sport Derby (@BBCDerbySport) August 19, 2019
That's good. Sounds like a "rehab assignment" more than anything. A couple of games under his belt to make sure the quad is okay will be worth it in the long grinding season that is the Championship.
https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2019/08/mitchell-lawson-strike-gets-under-23s-up-and-running Played 45', sounds like he did well and was taken off at half as planned
Yep. Coming back from injury it's either starts and is withdrawn on the half, or off the bench at 60'. In cases like Duane's, it suggests that he's pretty well recovered and they're easing him back in. He'll get PT in about 3-4 weeks IMO
Looks like he'll start for the U23s this weekend: Cocu confirms that @DuaneHolmes will play for #DCFCU23s on Friday, and will aim to complete 60-70 minutes.
