Somehow I think Chicago Park District and the Bears are playing hard ball, so if we return to Solders Field we will be paying a arm and a leg for rent and probably have to play a bunch/most of our games midweek. Talk about having a hard time drawing fans. or We will be playing our 2020, 2021 etc seasons at Seat Geek Stadium, until Joe finds land to build a SSS.
Yes, width is generally the problem. Not sure what the NCAA mandates for bench space, but the NFL mandates a 10 yard deep players area on each side of the field (30 yard line to 30 yard line), and 2 yard wide striping around the field, so 10+2+53+2+10 = 77 yards wide at the center. A lot of NFL stadiums round off the corners, so they may not fit at the ends, or have to shorten the pitch to 100-110 yards. With baseballs irregular stadium designs, the problem is usually worse.
Wrigley can barley fit an American football field. Plus Yankee Stadium looks like shit on tv. We don't need any more of that.
Also consider all the conflict of schedule issues NYCFC has with Yankees when its time for the playoffs. More often than not Yankees are in the postseason and has the priority. Yea, Bears play in November and October but thats regular season, set in stone. Far more certainty for the league to work around.
