at least bridgeview is semi accessible from highways. there is no direct route to evanston from anywhere unless you live on sheridan rd.
I worked in Evanston for 9 months it was HELL to get to and leave. Leaving at 2:00pm and it took me 45 minutes to just get to 94/294. There's really one way into Evanston, Dempster
Evanston has Metra and Purple Line access, some nice breweries, good bike lanes and the North Shore Channel Trail that extends from River Park in the city. It’s one of the least suckiest (and suburban feeling) suburbs there are, so at least there’s that. The stadium is still a little too big, though. I’d love to see some Open Cup games there, stadium size aside, but playing regular season games there and at Soldier Field seems a little awkward for the team’s first “return to the city” season.
The contract they signed with bridgeview allows them to play some games there next year so why would they go and play in Evanston?
You're either missing an apostrophe to indicate possession or a comma someone in there, friend. If the suburbs do have a-hole, I don't know that I'd brag about being from it, but then again it'd probably be one of the more interesting places in the 'burbs so maybe I would.
We've been considering a move from the South Loop to Logan Square is probably in the works, so now only a stadium on the blue line is acceptable to the most important elements of the fan base.
Just shut up! Fire fans are from both the suburbs and the city. Some of us can no longer afford to live in the city. We don't need some condescending jerk like you bashing anything outside of the city. You are the A-Hole that I was referring to.
Ryan Field is a huge improvement in Rail transit from the city but if we're only doing it for a few games here and there, it seems like there'd be no good way to get the CTA to run a Fire Purple Express on Saturdays for games.
That's on the Mayor, for not building the McDome, oh probably would have gotten MANY of the biggest sporting events (Super Bowl, NCAA final four, etc...). Capacity actually went down from SF to NSF, what a bunch of morons. Was NRod involved in the designs?
And on top of it all it’s uglier than all ********. There are days when I think that the Solider Field reno was a bigger ******** up than the parking meter deal, honestly. Daley was an absolute bozo.
They built that way so it would lose its Historic designation and they could tear it down. But the Olympics went elsewhere and the economy collapsed. Oh, AND Daley was a bit of a bozo (way better than Rahm, though).
I had seats in the 200 section when we moved back into NSF in 2003 (4 games), 2004 and 2005 great view, but it was so cramped (you could barley move inside).
I love New Soldier. Its unique and well designed. Should have more capacity. For Fire games back in the day, we sat in the 20$ 200 section and had full access to the Cadillac Club, which is a 300$ Bears ticket.
Perhaps it helps that I'm not a Bears fan, but yeah, I actually like the place and love going to events there. The concourses are too cramped on the non-club side for full-capacity events, so I try to find cheap club seats for non-NFL events, but the place has a lot more character than the other stadiums built during the same era, and you don't feel miles away from the action if you're up high. They really did build themselves into a corner when it comes to expansion though.
Football lines on the field suck. Corner flags obscured by stands making corner kicks impossible to see from many locations sucks. Long grass for football sucks for soccer. Mud pits in the fall suck. Scheduling limitations suck. There are a ton of positives about the location and nearby amenities but Soldier Field is a bad place for soccer. You may not notice when you go see one, high profile game in July but more than that and the experience degrades.
