Welcome Ko Itakura!🤝🇯🇵Do you know him @doan_ritsu?😄 #FCGroningen ➡️ https://t.co/TBcbHxpFqw pic.twitter.com/T02LXs2xU4— FC Groningen English (@FCGroningen_EN) January 14, 2019 On loan at FC Groningen
Hey, you never know unless you try! Having said that, maybe shoot for the stars and end up on the moon?
Anyone else find it weird that there is no official confirmation from Manchester City on this transfer? I can't find a tweet or article from the club itself announcing his transfer. Seems sketchy.
Man City often doesn't do a full release on its website for players who aren't slated to join the MCFC first team in the immediate future. You can interpret that how you will - basically it's a CFG portfolio acquisition - but the transaction itself is totally above board. You could say that Itakura isn't a Manchester City Football Club player in a meaningful sporting sense yet, but that his contract is with City Football Group.
Ko Itakura started today as a CB for Groningen against Hannover and played 77 minutes. The team won 0-1 at Hannover. Doan also started for Groningen and played 67 minutes, while Genki Haraguchi subbed in for Hannover during half-time. You can watch the full match here:
Both Itakura and Doan starts for Groningen in the first game of the season against FC Emmen: Opstelling ⚔️🆕 Itakura, Matusiwa, Lundqvist en Gudmundsson gaan officieel debuteren. Very good game by Itakura. His tackle set-up the goal. He made some good challenges and displayed good passing from the back.
What's the point of use him in his weak spot? He's a good DMF, didn't they choose him for this? Anyway good for him he played good as a CB but that's not exactly what we need from him.
I looked up some highlights of Meshino, and man he has potential! But unfortunately it's man city we are talking about. Will he play in the reserves?
He can’t play in England at all. He has no work permit, and can’t get it. He will be loaned out to a club in Netherlands or Belgium.

Well, I guess at least he could tear it apart if he adapts. Not sure how much Moriyasu will care though...
Meshino's loan to Hearts was confirmed today by the club manager. Let's use this thread to track him.
Hearts’ appeal for a work-permit for Meshino was accepted by the court: https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/sport/football/breaking-ryotaro-meshino-granted-work-16768676.amp
