I think the team was telling the truth when they said they were just doing a "what will this look like" website test for the rollout of the move.
Updated news on the Fire relocation effort: Bridgeview Fire Department vehicle thief leads police on chase that ends in Loop https://t.co/JExPwVWBVa— Chicago Breaking News (@ChicagoBreaking) July 25, 2019
I wonder what kind of restriction the Bears will use. No Saturday games before a Sunday Bears home game?
The Fire played a playoff game on a Saturday night before the Bears played on Sunday. Overnight the temperature dropped and a lake effect snowstorm dropped a half foot of snow on the lakefront. Though the turf was covered chunks of it were frozen to the tarp when the tarp was removed. Numerous Bears players and coaches complained about the soccer players ruing their field. Someone quipped in jest that it was all the fault of 140 pound DaMarcus Beasley for ruining the field for 300 pounders.
For all of its faults, I have to give the Park District/SMG credit for keeping grass at Soldier Field all these years and not switching to turf. It may be awful grass, and it'll be 4 inches long when the Fire play on it, but at least they've kept that traditional part of football intact.
A) is 4 ft short or long for grass? I may be late cutting it again. And B)I forget what b is. And C) blaming soccer for ruining grass? Isn't a bunch of fat ********s running into each other in the same spot more likely to ruin the grass then a bunch of lighter people running around randomly?I'm no rocket surgeon
Well depending on conditions it can do some serious damage, just not as bad as football. A number of years ago I went to a game at BMO Field that was a few days after a Canadian Championship game that had to be abandoned due to a deluge of rain severe enough to put standing water on the field. The grass in the 6 yard boxes was completely gone. Hilariously, Scott's Turf Builder was a team sponsor of TFC at the time and had multiple video ads played during the event.
Ah, in that case, you suck . /Go Brits! //actually about to drive to Holland in a few minutes for some beach time this weekend.
albion, huh? in that case, i'll remind you not to try to breathe in when you put your head underwater.
Soldier Field next year isn’t viable for every game so Northwestern is being considered for some games. Clown car shit show.
I thought Evanston has an ordinance saying no professional sports? I guess the Fire barely qualify as professional.
That is true, which was why the Bears played at U of I. However, just this week there was a meeting about Northwestern's proposal to change that (sell alcohol and, then, allow professional sports and for-profit concerts. https://evanstonroundtable.com/main...&ArticleID=16748&SectionID=15&SubSectionID=26
Well, Northwestern would be more convenient for me. As we all know, in this day and age it's all about narcissism, so I'll stick with that story.
The spin will be, "It's a more 'intimate' setting than big 'ol Soldier Field." (Oh yeah, probably cheaper to rent as well.)
