Let's see... Lovitz blows, Ream is too old, there are questions about many others, Dest can play either side and Berhalter's silly underlapping role. He continues to improve at a rapid pace and has looked like he has belonged with Ajax's first team, including cup game against PSV. • Sergiño Dest: “The USA or the Netherlands? I have not decided yet. I don’t know right now. I’m at team USA and the KNVB have not called me, so actually I have no choice to make at this moment. If they call me, I will consider it.” 👀#Ajax #AjaxYouth [AT5] pic.twitter.com/918zk9PUUS— Ajax Youth Academy (@AjaxYA) August 2, 2019
Sergino Dest: Pre-Season HighlightsDest will be making his official first team debut in roughly 2 hours vs. PSV in the Dutch Super Cup and this is why.He was the standout during Ajax's pre-season and he's earned ten Hag's trust. So excited to see how he does today. pic.twitter.com/zVDUKhz9uI— Marc Geschwind (@MarcGeschwind) July 27, 2019
Unfortunately we've no FIFA cap-tying games in the near future. No way is he going to choose us if the Dutch call him. Can't says I blame the kid. We're still a couple months short of a dumpster fire and there is no guarantee that we qualify from the hex for 2022. UEFA's qualification ain't a guarantee but the kid is Dutch, plays for Ajax and certainly has some affinity for them. We're toast.
Can't just hope on this one. I'm going to conference in @Midas Mulligan - so he can apply the appropriate level of pressure.
You guys are buzz kills. Mil bucks that he’s on the USMNT in Sept, and gets capped in Oct. Don’t forget...this is an NL interview and he’s saying everything he can to endear himself for Ajax fans. He played almost every minute in U20 WC, and is heralded by everyone in USSoccer as the Yedlin v4.0....and being passive aggressive to ensure he gets the call up. Lock this in stone. He’s capped in October.
This is a kid that's played for us at the 2017 U17 World Cup and recently at the 2019 U20 World Cup. I imagine he'll part of our full USMNT program really soon. If available for our U23 Olympic team, he'd also be with that group. He's saying here exactly what you'd expect him to say. He's keeping doors open. Just like every other dual national does. Obviously...………………..we should incorporate him into our full USMNT ASAP. Not because of these comments or Holland's interest. But primarily because he's worthy of it based on the quality of his play.
What comes first is the League of Nations. That, I assume, will be cap-tying. I see no reason for the USMNT staff not to invite Dest to that. If he declines, so be it. The CONCACAF U23 Championships later this fall won't be cap-tying. That's a CONCACAF event and not a FIFA event. Seeing as its been a long time since we actually have qualified for the Olympics, we can't put the cart before the horse on that one Clubs don't have to release players for the CONCACAF U23 Championships. So I imagine its unlikely that Dest (or the majority of our Euro-based first team players) will be there.
He's very young and needs all his concentration just to keep up with the first team selection of Ajax. He has a hell of a fight ahead of him in that perspective.(https://www.noordhollandsdagblad.nl...et-video?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic) He can do without distracting issues like national team choices. The last time we had an unproven very young player in the back line of the Orange team it costed us the WC 2018 qualifications, due to goals after his blunders. You really think we're gonna repeat that process?
Leave him in Holland, he's committed to us and needs to SETTLE IN! We can make do with Lovitz and Ream, and we still have Beasleys experience if we have a real must win soon in the nation's league!
I was going to the previous post that there at least some sarcasm in the post but think it all is.... Based on his views of dual nationals, Lovitz, and aging veterans. Edit... must win nations league game. Now that is funny.
Whoosh! I guess sarcasm isn't the love language of BS! If we need to pick a bunch of pretty bad players to win the GC, exactly, why won't we do the same for Nations League!? Can't wait to see MB trotting back out there to take up his spot in central midfield, and for pretty much nobody to question it!
everyone is frustrated, but lets not pretend any of the three dual nationals mentioned here are defensive midfielders that could serve as thus far ignored replacements for michael bradley.
