preliminary viewing shows the best London away days in the Spring which, given the uncertainty of my employment, could be a good thing. I'll have to sit down and look more closely - coordinating Spurs' fixtures, CL dates, and Wednesday games - when I get back from lunch. fixture release day … always exciting!
I'll still read this topic and take a little interest in Sheffield Wednesday because of you, but I'll be less interested in League Championship because my favorite club in it was Aston Villa. I'm hoping Sunderland and Blackpool can get up to League Championship.
according to The Mirror, Hughton has snubbed Wednesday, saying he wants to get back into managing, but the job at Hillsborough isn't the right one at the right time. really disappointing. amongst the rumors I've heard, though, is that former Spurs/HSV/Ajax manager Martin Jol is in the running. This would make me deliriously happy, as Martin Jol is my favorite manager ever, full stop. and I will admit that it will make me miserable once it starts going wrong and all of Wednesdaydome is at his throat. but I do love Martin Jol (& Martin Jol loves me).
from those first looks, i gotta say that i like both of 'em. the primaries are what they should be every year. that combination of (proper) blue/white stripes on top with black shorts and socks is as good as any look in the world of football, and you can fight me about it. and for once, the secondaries aren't throwaways. my irish heritage loves me some green. goddamn... i may have to consider dropping some coin on one of these.
Houghton says, "No thanks...". https://www.footballinsider247.com/...-after-being-offered-sheffield-wednesday-job/
dammit. Skybet had stopped taking bets on Hughton the other day, which indicated something was up. It may be that he was in talks with Chansiri/the club, but nothing could be worked out. at any rate, that's a serious disappointment, as I was starting to get my hopes up.

Joao may be off to Reading. https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foo...s-joao-on-the-verge-of-joining-reading-488450 That said, Norwich have apparently let it be known that they would like to sign Jordan Rhodes (who was there on loan last year), should he be made available for a free transfer. So they're basically saying, "we'll buy him from you so long as the price is zero." Presumably they're thinking Wednesday would be happy to be rid of his wages. Still, pretty ballsy. Anyway, some are saying that Wednesday are indignant, but others suggest it could be on. The upside of Joao being off would be that Rhodes leaving would be that much more unlikely. I like 'em both, but surely Rhodes should offer more, if he can get a bit of service. The arrival of Kadeem Harris from Cardiff will help in that regard. And there are rumors that Ben Marshall (just released by Norwich) is on Wednesday's radar, which could mean more crosses coming in from left and right, and playing to Rhodes' strengths. Then again, there's a part of me that says thinking either of them (Rhodes or Joao) coming good is just wishful thinking. We can probably toss Nuhiu into the same category. It'll probably be all Fletcher when it's said and done.
Eh. I'd rather have Joao. Give them Rhodes. Folks ITK at owlstalk say Rhodes deal is done and it will be official Thursday.
