Yes, I think Rapinoe will win and I am in agreement if she does (Rapinoe is a former CRS player). Ertz and Kerr - great, CRS players. Two Norwegian players - great. Kerr and Hegerberg are club superstars (Kerr is in a stronger league) that are a cut above - would've been interesting to see Kerr vs. Hegerberg in the WWC match.
The goals from Vålerenga - Manchester United 4-1 https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=477290049726096
Yes, but she's had quite a tough start in Vålerenga with only three Toppserien goals so far this season. Suddenly she knocked in three goals in one game against United. May be this was a break-through moment for her in the Vålerenga shirt.
Cathrine Dekkerhus makes a surprising come-back after years of injury nightmares. She has signed for LSK Kvinner and will be eligible to play for them in the Champions League qualifiers next week. LSK play Anderlecht, PAOK Athens and Linfield in Belgium. - o - o - o - o - o - o - Another level two club pummeled in the NM Cup today: Sandviken 9 - 0 Grei (L2) Brochmann 21, 43, Jensen 35, 81, 82, Ervik 50, Naalsund 53(p), 74, Eikeland 70
Well, she sure had impressed in France, congratulations to her. I hope PSG is not too much crowded and she'll get plenty playing time.
This is wonderful news! I have been a fan of hers since watching her play in 2013 Euro where Norway made the final. I wish her success and no further injury issues and maybe she can work her way back to the Senior team!
Sævik to France and Amalie Eikeland is reputed to have signed a two-year deal with Reading soon to be announced. May the last player leaving Norway please turn off the lights?
TOPPSERIEN 2019 - Matchday 10 Kolbotn 1 - 2 Trondheims-Ørn Sævik 15 - Melhus 66, Bragstad 90+1 RC: Vårhus (T-Ørn) 17 Heroic performance from T-Ørn winning after coming from behind and a player down nearly the entire game. The giant 17-year old, Emilie Bragstad (6'2"/188 cm), match-winner in stoppage time for the second time in a week (she also decided the NM Cup game vs Fløya on Wednesday). Was this Karina Sævik's last game (and goal) for Kolbotn? Still no news about her alleged PSG transfer in Norwegian media. Fart 1 - 0 Stabæk Helmvall 15 This vital bottom of the table clash was decided in Fart's favour by a fresh Swedish summer signing from Assi, Emilie Helmvall. Stabæk's new coach Per Inge Jacobsen (ex-Avaldsnes) takes over on Monday and has his work cut out for him. Stabæk have only scored one goal this season and have ten points up to the play-off spot. Relegation looms for the traditional powerhouse. LSK Kvinner 0 - 1 Klepp Yallop 38 We now have a championship race for real. LSK beaten at home and Klepp will be only one point behind if they win their game in hand. The loss of Reiten, Engen and Haavi is taking its toll. LSK lacked quality in the build up of attacks, and had surprisingly few scoring chances. New signing Emilie Nautnes came off the bench, but failed to score. Klepp have only conceded three goals this season, and they don't score much either. LSK now travel to Belgium for the CL qualifiers. Must improve from this. Avaldsnes 2 - 1 Arna Bjørnar Tvedten 1, Jøsendal 78 - Araujo 12 RC: Nygard (A-B) 60 Avaldsnes leapfrogged A-B on the table with this win and pushed the Bergen team down to the play-off spot. The sending off of Rikke Nygard (second yellow for kicking a player accidently in the face) turned the tide in Avaldsnes favour. Great long range goal by Olaug Tvedten after just 25 seconds. Sandviken 2 - 1 Lyn Spord 29, Cordner 56 - Lillegård 3 Predictable win on paper, but Lyn made Sandviken work hard for it by taking an early lead. Amalie Eikeland played her last game for Sandviken and signed off with an assist to Cordner's winning goal. Eikeland now moves to Reading in the English Super League. Røa 2 - 6 Vålerenga Jensen 27, 50 - Dowie 24, Stefanovic 31, Njoya 45, 46, Ildhusøy 68, Søndenå 83 A very entertaining game, not only because of the amount of goals, but also because of the attack-minded teams. Vålerenga are on fire these days. They had only scored 13 goals in ten games before today, and now six in one game away against perhaps the most physical team in the league. May be the Manchester United win has inspired them. Some of the goals today were absolutely top notch. Ajara Njoya is one of the form players in Toppserien these days. Her first goal was a belter in the top corner. I expect that one as one of the Goal of the Week nominees. TOP SCORERS 12 - Guro Reiten (LSK Kvinner) 11 - Synne Jensen (Røa) 9 - Kennya Cordner (Sandviken) 8 - Maria Brochmann (Sandviken) 7 - Karina Sævik (Kolbotn) 6 - Natasha K. Props for having the name of the scorer as Yallop instead of Butt. About LSK's missing players: I am familiar with the notion that Engen was signed by Wolfsburg and that Haavi was badly injured during the World Cup; I don't remember what happened to Guro Reiten instead.
@blissett - Reiten joined Thorisdottir and Mjelde in Chelsea this summer. - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - 11th Matchday - Goal of the Week candidates 1 - Natasha Dowie, Vålerenga (away at Røa) 2 - Olaug Tvedten, Avaldsnes (home vs Arna-Bjørnar) 3 - Ajara Njoya, Vålerenga (away at Røa) You can contribute to the outcome by voting here.
Oh, yeah, I had read it but I had forgotten. I suppose Reiten's excellent display during the World Cup made her a very sought-after piece even for all of those who didn't already know her from her Toppserien's record. If I remember well, despite making the semifinals last year, Chelsea didn't even qualify for Champions' League this year, but it looks like they're piecing a team together to get back soon. Anyway, as I said elsewhere, UEFA would definitely need a WCL's expansion or, even better, a secondary club competition.
Champions League qualifiers, Brussels: LSK Kvinner 4 - 0 Linfield Ladies Thorsnes 10, 24, Åsland 22, Abrahamsen 27 Cathrine Dekkerhus made her debut for LSK. Came on as a sub with 30 mins to go and stayed healthy remarkably enough. LSK now play Anderlecht on Saturday and PAOK from Greece on Tuesday. Only the group-winner advances to the first knock-out round in the CL, so you most likely need to win all three games. NM Cup - 3rd Round (remaining two games) Avaldsnes 2 - 1 Klepp Tvedten 7, 84 - Østenstad 43 Big contrasts for Klepp within a few days. From the highs of beating LSK to the lows of losing to Avaldsnes in the NM Cup. The stocky Olaug Tvedten is Norway's best teenager IMO, and was the difference in this game. She is a bundle of power, energy and skill. Fortuna Ålesund (L3) 1 - 3 Vålerenga Skovly 31 - Dowie 33(p), 80, 82 It took Vålerenga 80 minutes to break down the underdog from level three. They needed the entrance from Spitse and Njoya to secure the win. Both internationals started on the bench. - o - o - o - o - o - o - Olaug Tvedten, who just walked off the pitch as match-winner in the NM Cup tonight, was voted GotW for Matchday 11. NFF likes to have the matchdays in rigid order despite postponements.)
I'm not Miedema's biggest fan, but she was arguably as much of a club superstar as Kerr and Hegerberg last season.
Reading confirmed the signing of 24 y/o winger Amalie Eikeland from Sandviken today. She has played 184 competitive club matches in Norway and scored 47 goals. She only recently became part of the national team squad and has won 7 caps, most of them as substitute. Amalie was one of those NT coach Sjögren overlooked in the World Cup, and only brought her on against England when the game was virtually over. Eikeland is set to be part of Reading's pre-season travelling party to Spain. It will be interesting to see how she fares in that club.
Question: where has Sophie Haug been? I probably missed a message or two about her. She was a top scorer last year in the league. Is she playing outside of Norway? Is she injured? Is Cecilie Pedersen playing much? Has she lost her edge?
Sophie Haug has had a dry season so far. Not a single goal in Toppserien this year. She is playing, but is struggling to hold a starting spot at LSK. They need her to start scoring again in these big games coming up. Preferably already against Anderlecht on Saturday. I don't think Cecilie has lost her edge. She is injured, but is working hard to come back from what I know. She made a few appearances as substitute before the World Cup break, but I've seen no news about her in recent weeks though.
Champions League qualifiers, Brussels Anderlecht 3 - 2 LSK Kvinner Rus 49, Deneve 72, Toloba 87 - Gausdal 47, Haug 88 There have been obvious signs of the LSK project in decline in recent time and this defeat just confirmed it. It was an even game which also LSK could have won, but Anderlecht were more efficient on the day. Engen and Reiten offloaded, Haavi injured and Nautnes not allowed to play because of her late transfer, cost too much. This current LSK line-up looks very average with not a single outfield player I would like to start for Norway's NT. With the players they've lost, I think LSK will have big problems defending the Toppserien title. They need every point of advantage they gained in spring season. - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - The NM Cup quarter-finals have been drawn: Vålerenga – Avaldsnes Trondheims-Ørn – Sandviken Røa – Arna Bjørnar Kolbotn – LSK Kvinner All matches played Wednesday, 21 August.
TOPPSERIEN 2019 - Matchday 12 Trondheims-Ørn 0 - 1 Røa Jørgensen 53 T-Ørn are the worst home team in the league, still without a win this season and wasted plenty of chances in this game. 10 out of their 12 points have been picked up away. Stabæk 0 - 0 Avaldsnes Stalemate at Nadderud for new Stabæk coach Per Inge Jacobsen against his former club. Avaldsnes dominated the play, but couldn't turn chances into goals. Vålerenga 1 - 0 Kolbotn Waldus 21 Isabell Herlovsen was injured on the warm-up and missed the game. Not exactly what Kolbotn wanted the same week they also lost Sævik to PSG. Vålerenga won on a mediocre day. Arna Bjørnar 3 - 1 Fart Mijatovic 10, Asom 11, Jåstad 29 - Kjørum 24 A-B offloaded a bunch of players to Sandviken before the season started, and have had massive injury problems after that, but this was an important win in the battle for survival. New signing Mimi Asom scored on her debut. Klepp 2 - 3 Sandviken Solaun 3, Tofte Ims 13 - Ervik 14, Naalsund 27(p), 43 Having beaten LSK last week, Klepp now managed to waste a two-goal lead at home vs Sandviken. Klepp conceded as many goals in this game as they have done all season combined in Toppserien. Strong come-back by Sandviken who also emerge as title challengers this fall. TOP SCORERS 12 - Guro Reiten (LSK Kvinner) 11 - Synne Jensen (Røa) 9 - Kennya Cordner (Sandviken) 8 - Maria Brochmann (Sandviken) 7 - Karina Sævik (Kolbotn) 6 - Natasha K. Champions League qualifiers, Brussels LSK Kvinner 1 - 0 PAOK Moe Wold 68(p) Everything was pretty much settled before today with Anderlecht through from this group. LSK started with a second string line-up against PAOK as they prepare for the big clash on Saturday against Vålerenga in Toppserien.
Coach Martin Sjögren has selected his first Norway squad after the World Cup for the Euro qualifier against Northern Ireland away (Aug 30), and the friendly against England at home in Bergen (Sep 03). It must be the first ever Norway selection where more than 50% of the players are foreign based. GOALKEEPERS Ingrid Hjelmseth ................ 1980 ..... Kolbotn Missing from the World Cup squad: Cecilie Kvamme, Emilie Haavi, Stine Hovland, Therese Åsland, Emilie Nautnes. New players: Tuva Hansen, Kristine Leine Hjelmseth is still around and apparently won't retire until the Norwegian season is over. I would have preferred to select Fiskerstrand early on in the qualifiers so she could settle in. I assume the versatile and pacey Tuva Hansen has been brought in to be tested at the right back position which needs to be upgraded. I don't know why Cecilie Kvamme was overlooked this time. The pre-camp at West Ham first priority at this stage? Kristine Leine is back. She continues to fight for the same spot on the team as Stine Hovland, who missed out this time. We are a bit thin up front at the moment, and therefore I would have liked to see a born again Synne Jensen given another shot. She has blossomed at Røa this season. The Ada boycott continues.
Since apparently Stabæk is just relegation fodder this season, how Hjelmseth is doing in her club under these particular circumstances?
