Haller was just as good as Jovic for Frankfurt. He is being sold for almost half the price and he is going to....West Ham!?!? The agent must have got a massive kickback. Haller is 25 and he could have easily been purchased by Juventus who are looking to offload Higuain and Mandzukic or Barcelona who need a replacement for Suarez soon, Atletico who are peddling off Costa, Napoli who are having trouble getting James Rodriuez.

RBL apparently has sold Werner and its down to the brass tax but there are conflicting reports about the truth of the rumor.

I would have loved to have had Werner for us. I think he is going to be World Class before its all said and done.

The way I see it, no point in signing a player who wants to play for Bayern and Bayern only. Had we signed him it would have been obvious from the get go that he'd be using us as a stepping stone, and IMO the club must move away from that image.

Completely agree. I was on Bayerns website yesterday and one of their writers had the nerve to call us a development club where players go to get better and then move on.

I know they are rivals so their opinions matter little to me but it does seem that we are viewed by a few as nothing more than a place that sells off their best players.

OK so I'm a BvB fan from Montreal Canada. And the local team (The Impact where Drogba played a couple of seasons ago...) just hired a youngster from Finland. He's 20 and was just sign from Bologna. (Both Bologna and Montreal belong to the same owner)

Just to put you in context, the team just lost 4 games in a row against the weakest team in the league and now they are face with the conference leaders... So the local hope is to a minimum. But this happened : https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...comer-lassi-lappalainen-voted-mls-player-week

It's only MLS but he's just 20 and the speed... I wonder how he'd look in Yellow ;-)
Lets give him a couple of games and see if he's consistent...

I watch the MLS quite a bit and I have to say you may want to slow down a bit. Theres a huge jump in class to go from Bologna, MLS then to top flight EURO soccer. This guy would need to have a couple of good seasons before a team like Dortmund would even take notice.

Oh I know I'm not suggesting that 1 game and he is ready for BvB. But he was burning everyone with is speed it was night and day with everyone else on the field and that was quite impressive. More so then anything I've seen from the likes of Phillips, Isaak and a few more. And he's so much taller and physical too. Lets wait and see what he does.

If someone is a) fast and b) good at defending, then they are not in MLS for long. He did look good. But Philly's defense isn't good. Let me know when he wrecks NYCFC and I'll get excited. But the highlight were fun. Glad for Montreal to get out of their rut.

Totally agree, and I will. You have to understand I went into the game expecting a red card and a big loss. This team was so loss and without anything going for them. Everyone in the team and the media said this guy was a long term project, not to expect a 'savior'. We'll see what happens next.
    **********************
In the meanwhile, my heart is truly yellow and black and I am not sure what to expect for this year. Do we have the defense to win a title? Or does any offensive slump means and automatic 'L' like the last few years? Can we hold unto leads in the last 10 minutes? Can we go 2-0 vs Schalke? and 1-1 vs Bayern? Do we have enough depth on the bench? I still have my doubts...

Yeah, we all get pissed from time to time when Watzke makes some unnecessary or annoying comments.
But blurting out racist stuff puts everything into perspective. For those who haven't read it, holding a speech during a conference dealing with responsibilities of entrepeneuers and solutions for the future, Tönnies said he's in favor of building power plants in Africa so that they cut down less trees and don't produce so many babies when it's getting dark.
Unsurprisingly, these kind of comments from a guy at the top of a BL club and his own business don't go over well.

What's worse is that at first there was stunned silence and then a round of applause.

And then their chairman said that at Schalke, If somebody makes a mistake they can apologize for it to make up for it.

Needless to say everybody, including their fans are piling it on.

second bayern goal from a stupid mistake! things are different in the VAR age. That penalty would have probably not be seen before VAR.

Matchday 1 and Bayern picks up right where we left off....

I suppose that Coutinho and that other kid are supposed to placate the fans. All depth players

Terrible penalty. Hertha should have won the match. Lewandowski clearly dove.

Coutinho to Bayern on loan with option to buy for 120 million! Well that would be a lot for Bayern to pay! They will only do it if he delivers miracles to them.

I like the player, but I feel like he will require an adjustment to the way they play, which hopefully means more disruption and points lost by them.

It seems like Tuchel is having all sorts of trouble at PSG. I certainly don't want him back since to me he created a wrong environment for the club. What surprises me is the fact that he is not having that much success even with the squad at his disposal, he should do a little better.

I think Tuchel falling out with BVB staff definitely was a red flag, and in hindsight it seems that he coddles certain stars and favorites to a fault. But it seems like PSG is run like a circus with or without him, and the club certainly hasn't done him any favors by turning personnel situations into protracted dramas.

PSG has many problems but TT isn't one of them. I'm not sure why this is even being brought up.

It's a great weekend for football so far. Dortmund won today and Palace beat United.

Two ex Dortmund boys faced off today. Pulisic had a fairly good game grabbing an assist and Leitner did well for his level.

    Arsenal vs Liverpool on.
    Not watching Bayern vs Schalke.
Arsenal might get hammered and it still won't change things. Arsenal are inferior to us in every position apart from Auba as a striker. They are facing the most aggressive, pressing side in the world, the current European champions. Yet the midfielders are trying and managing to pass out in the rare times they get the ball, because they are fighting physicality with technique and mobility.

It's the only way we can go ourselves unless we have physical monsters like Henderson, Sissoko etc.
