Adams hit a pass from ~10 yards deeper in his own half. His ball went through more players (Pomykal's ball splits a pair of defenders, Adams' ball bypasses one of his own men + his marker, the CDM, and splits the last two defenders). It was also through the more congested center of the field, and against much stronger opposition. The only luck Adams had was that Poulsen finished his 1 v 1 with an excellent chip, whereas Mosquera flubbed his chance.
How very childish of you to act smarmy when I clarify my statement, particularly considering you asked me.
The most amazing part of Pomykal's pass was the vision, he was facing his own goal, barely turned around and made the pass instantly.
I think he has a very fast processor in his brain. That's also why he gets so many steals/tackles. He thinks quicker and then moves quicker. I feel Adams is the same way.
@Clint Eastwood, If I understand correctly, you are a big FCD supporter. Given the promise that Pomykal has shown in MLS and U20s, where would you like him to transfer to in an ideal setting? I believe you are strongly against going to big clubs as one of their “loan army” players (Miazga, Carter- Vickers, Palmer-Brown and Steffen) but I think you are supportive of Richards’ move to Bayern. I think some of this may be a function of age but given that we have a reasonably high upside FCD candidate who is rumored to be moving within a year, I thought it would make for a good discussion. For me, the biggest question I have is his ability to play at higher speeds as I don’t see obvious developmental holes in his game. Therefore, I’d like to see him at a bottom half major league team (B1 preferably) where he would get regular playing time (>20% of minutes or so) so we can see if his game translates.
I’d like to see him (Paxton)go to a club, roughly the equivalent to Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim, or Moenchengladbach. He should be good enough to be a rotational starter with them.
His style of play might do well in Italy or Spain. Those leagues have historically been a lot tougher for Americans to break into than Germany, though. I don't think the EPL is the best place for him. Maybe France?
It’s doubtful that he’s a top 30 team regular so RBL means playing with the reserves. Is Schalke a bottom half team this year? I’m unsure...
I hope you’re right but there’s no way to know if he’s good enough for that level. I’d probably go a half step lower in the B1.
I guess it depends on how you compare him with Adams. last year a lot of folks thought Adams was going to go to RB in Austria and if he did good there would move eventually to RB Leipzig. Instead he went straight to the Bundesliga and after a game or two started and ended up one of their better players. I think Pomykal is in that same quality but until someone does it there's no real way to tell.
I hope you’re right but think Adams is an outlier. Red Bull’s is nice that there have both teams as an option.
Maybe, time will tell. I have seen Pax with the academy team in Dallas Cup where he outplayed bigger and older Brazillians who never lose those games. In U20 qualifying and u20 WC where he seems to play where and how needed and with FC Dallas where he looks the same. Will it translate to say Bundesliga and full national team? I'd guess yes but who hasn't been really high on a player that didn't pan out? I will say that what I've learned over time is players that are tenacious, play both ways and have an extra lung are pretty safe choices.
Do the teams you mention have a need for a CM and a history of buying unproven ones and giving the a decent runout?
I think what we really need to find out is his passport situation. We'd heard rumors that he has the ability to get a Czech passport. If that's the case, or that he's already gotten it, then his options are wide open. Would love for some journalist to figure this out once and for all. If he doesn't have that passport, then England/Spain/Italy become more challenging. Not impossible, but challenging. I'm always in favor of our youngsters heading to Germany. That seems to be the "big league" in which our American youngsters have the most opportunities. Lots of good options there. Its just about who's going to pay and where there's an actual playing opportunity. Pax isn't like Chris Richards, Richie Ledesma, Alex Mendez, Sebastian Soto, etc. in that Pax isn't going to go over to Europe to play for a reserve or youth team. Pax should be going over to play first team soccer right away. There have been rumors recently (don't know how reliable the sources) that Feyenoord in Holland want the player. If that's the case, that might also be a great opportunity. Going to Holland first was certainly a good move for Michael Bradley. The comment we saw is that Feyenoord are really interested, and are worried if they wait until the next transfer window.....................clubs with bigger pockets will push them out. And they very well might be right about that. Last we heard from the FCD general manager, no offers have been made. We've also heard that Pax is really happy at FCD. So we'll just see.
A top-end Eredivisie club would be great. I would tend to agree with the idea that the longer clubs wait, the bigger the clubs will be that vie for his services. Hell, by the winter transfer window Feyenoord might well be priced out---their biggest transfer paid in the last 3 years was around $6M, and this year they have one single transfer fee paid, of ~$300k (and last year only one ~$2M).
I know Feyenoord may not have the resources that Ajax, and PSV have, but they’re a large team with a big fan base. PSV spent 6 and 8 million Euros on Gutierrez and Lozano, respectively. Ajax spent 15 million Euros on Alvarez. Hopefully Feyenoord can step up to the plate as I think that’d be a fantastic move.
Article or interview just came out interviewing Dan Hunt. He wants Pax to be the face of FCD like Dak, Doncic etc with the other Dallas Pro teams. I don't think Pax owes them loyalty because they haven't shown any to the players to try and win a title. Luckily Hunt's word is becoming inrceasingly worthless. He said they were going to busy this window and have big upgrades. I'd rather he not talk and actually do something.
One word: Badji Only Atlanta and LAFC, the two leader in East and West respectively, have better GA than Dallas. That defense of Hedges, Ziegler, Hollingshead and Cannon is a steel trap and they led in defense even before Ziegler got there. They just refuse to pony up for some class on the front line.
