He is on his way to either Celta Vigo or Besiktas, with reports in Turkish media stating today that he prefers a transfer to Spain, with Dortmund willing to let him go for a low transfer fee.
That's not what he deserved after his long history in yellow-black jersey. I don't know if BvB fans are ungrateful for all the emotions (and trophies) that Shinji give them, but at least this stubborn coach could give him a final match to say farewell to the city and the stadium that was his "home" for all those years. I don't know if this type of support is "average" in Westfalenstadion but in the Kagawa years I heard only his name supported in this way.
He actually is still a fan favorite after all these years there. The club management (not the coach though apparently) also think highly of him, that's why they are willing to let him go for a low transfer fee to accommodate his wishes. The coach Favre simply isn't compatible with him though.
I thought his childhood dream was always to play for Man Utd lol iirc, I think La Liga is just a preferred move for him at this stage.
The Man Utd thing was a badly translated quote I think. He meant something more along the lines of "playing for [a huge club like] Man Utd is [like a] dream for me"...
Besiktas president said that Kagawa has signed for a Spanish club. He does not mention the name of the club.
