China won't qualify for the world cup either way. They can't beat Pot 4 teams regularly let alone Pot 3 or Pot 2 teams.
I think they can give some teams a run for their money. They just naturalized a half chinese player who represented england's youth a while back. Also they are in the process of naturalized a few brazilian attacking players. One of them I think is Elkeson.
