I'm assuming some "woke" person wrote it. "When politics and policies can divide us, this game unites us" and "this game showcases our humanity" - for god's sake, what does that have to do with selling a ticket to a two-hour game? Did they do a focus group on this stuff or is the new chief revenue officer trying to put her stamp on things with a campaign that is completely disconnected from the actual reasons the team can't sell more tickets? (of course, when they hired her they trumpeted how ticket sales for the Cavaliers shot up under her watch, conveniently overlooking the fact that they shot up due to Lebron coming home to Cleveland to play)
Seems pretty overblown, but does the FO really think its a good idea to build a campaign behind these guys again?: http://www.reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/cd80dc/lafc_fans_assaulted_by_houston_dynamos_el_batallon/
I honestly believe that the new management team is clueless about the rich history of the franchise. They came in, cleaned house and everyone in authority is fresh off the boat with no knowledge of the sport. I honestly believe that if I showed them this guys photo they wouldn't have a clue who he is.
I go to lunch, check in on twitter, and I see a thread whereby some female Dynamo supporter thinks that getting to play on the pitch is worth throwing good money at our cheap ownership so someone like @nbrooks503 can just shove off if they don't like it. And these are the people the Dynamo FO thinks you should build the fanbase off of - the vocal social media minority who doesn't speak for 80% of the ticket-buying fanbase. I need to talk to all the folks who claim being a STH for the @HoustonDynamo isn't worth it. @bflock and @soccerpat are currently playing with Brian Ching and @balock27 just got some free coaching from Eddie Robinson. #getonourlevel #ForeverOrange pic.twitter.com/eiQOH8BcfR— Darbi Lockridge (@sonchyenne) July 16, 2019 If she thinks we are gonna be winning anytime soon she may have to wait a while for all of us "abandoners" to come back This "fan resume" is all well and good. If the team isn't doing it for you anymore, I hope you find one that does. I've got mine right here and will still be here supporting if you ever come check up on us once we start winning again!— Darbi Lockridge (@sonchyenne) July 17, 2019
By the way, the clear FO inexperience in soccer manifested itself when they are seemingly trying to raise effective prices (after all loyalty discounts) likely based on how the season started off thru May or early June and they thought "hey, we are 3rd in MLS in PPG, we are good team and can probably raise prices to see this great squad" not understanding how front-loaded our home schedule was and that with Gold Cup and the Cabrera summer swoon we were likely going to come back closer to where our talent level is. We may be in 9th place in the West by the time August 1 rolls around.
Well that twitter @sonchyenne person is a self-proclaimed SJW on her twitter profile so you just moved seamlessly between SJWs. I’m starting to think some of these lefty SG and Orange KoolAid Brigade members are being funded by the FO like the loyalists in Northern Ireland were for years.
Am I wrong in really not liking the Gold Cup? It means practically nothing, and it took a lot of our top players. I know there are significant problems with the team but I can't help but notice that we fell off once the Gold Cup started.
There are evidently still people willing to pay any cost to watch a professional soccer team in Houston. The rest of us aren’t willing to pay the high cost of a very poorly run and non competitive / losing team year after year. It also isn’t worth the cost of being able to ‘rub shoulders’ legendary dynamo players if it means perpetuating the fraud this ownership is has promulgated.
I always am guarded drawing many broad full-fanbase conclusions from social media because it tends to skew towards those most likely to complain and general loudmouths. But there's a lot out there tonight expressing frustration with ownership and the FO. And its not reactionary to just the Atlanta and LA losses - this has been building 4-5 years as the team has not done as well on the field and with the exception of bringing in guys between 2016-2017 (mostly on loans with options to buy) the ownership is not spending or investing the amounts it takes to be consistently good in MLS. And what exacerbates the problem is the constant claim from the Kool Aid Brigade and the FO that the Dynamo ARE spending enough when the results don't show it, outside of a nice spurt in October 2017 when they won a few games to make the conference final. They are constantly arguing the exception and not the rule is what should be followed. If it makes people feel better about their support of the club and ticket purchases to pretend or argue that the club has invested enough, fine, go tweet away. But that argument can't fight the subpar results, utter lack of developing academy or young prospects, and the annual wage bill that ranks either last or next to last in MLS. Everyone understands their is a business side to sports and the owners want to get a return on that investment. But that can't be the sole goal of an organization in sport, positive cash flow and returns on investment. There's got to be a competitive sporting element to it or it loses all attractiveness as a business to the ticket buyers.
They dont have the liquid assets to do anything but rely on whatever money they bring in. Until ownership leaves, this is us.
I'd like it more if it was once every four years. Once every two years is too much and cheapens it for me.
I don't think throwing millions of dollars into buying a player is what most of the fans want. I understand that many big money players dont perform. But, we need millions of dollars put into the team so that they can build and keep a roster from top to bottom that at least has a chance. You dont even have to look at our reserves to see the massive drop in quality, just glance at the bench. Hairston is not good enough by far. Mac can play but not at forward, way too slow and not a playmaker. Garcia...need I say more? Yet, besides Hairston, the other two have seen significant playing time with very poor results. That is where the extra millions should go, but it won't.
i like ----, but what he doesn't understand is that someone takes his tweets and says "look, there's fans who think we're on the right path". those types of super fans are trying to help, but end up hurting the process even more.
After that meeting, I'm convinced that they had already decided on what they were going to do. These kind of management types come in, make up their minds without any real input and blow off any constructive ideas that they believe are critical of their vision. They cherry pick social media to support their views, they'll hire a company to poll their ticket holder base by structuring the questions in such as way as to provide support for the plan. If you got the last online poll - there were no questions about investment in the actual product. It was all about fluff and bs concessions, supporters groups etc. That poll was structured intentionally to buttress their plan for the investment and attempted expansion of the supporters groups. For all of those in the past that said the only way to convince the organization they are on the wrong path is by withholding our money - you were right. It is the only way - because they can manipulate the negative social media and manipulate polling. I wonder if James Harden really understands what he might be getting into, the cynic in me thinks that nothing will change, and even though he has beaucoup bucks, 1 member of the ownership team is not going to change things. They all have to put their $$$ in the pot and agree. I just don't think that's going to happen. I might be wrong, but experience tells me otherwise.
I want to expand on this but today’s Harden ownership announcement is perfect example of where they will “win social media” by exciting a bunch of people who have zero clue that Harden is merely a financial investor in the clubs cash flow stream.
All you need to know about the future of ticketing for the Dynamo . Apparently the view is that season ticket holders are holding sports teams hostage. This is the plan on how to prevent hostage taking by those dastardly clients Start at about 10:22
It shocks me we don't already have a multi-level marketing company as a jersey sponsor. Look at what I wrote below a few weeks ago, I had never seen this video but it's clear the concept seems to be to prematurely force a renewal decision by threatening to treat the season ticket, err, membership holder like crap if they opt-out. A nice Boiler Room. I like her talk about how if you opt-out you still can get your playoff tickets but they charge you for all rounds up front - I wonder if they would ever have the guts to charge an opt-out person for 3 home games + MLS Cup when they are 9th in the West!!!!!
