I would not have predicted all 3 of Trapp, Artur, and Guzman. At least Accam is on the bench so he can come in and run around for the final 20 minutes when we're losing. Romario Williams on the bench. No sign of Crognale or JJ.
Trapp at CAM? Ouch. Orland'oh has Nani, Akindele, and Dwyer which is more firepower than we have with Zardes.
The 4-3-3 is a nice change and an homage to @hangthadj's favorite manager, the peerless Eusebio Di Francesco. The fact that Guzman is still an unquestioned starter punctures any test balloons that everyone is playing for heir jobs. He's been almost unanimously recognized as the worst Crew performer over the last month. Enjoy another 90 minutes and that fat paycheck, David. The fact that Guzman and Williams are starting is appalling and again goes to show a point @chr1st made earlier in the roster thread that Porter has not at all given the youngsters a shot in this lost season. But, here we are. In fact I'd argue that Guzman and Williams should never see another minute in a Crew shirt. I'd say the same about Sauro, but I'm an incredible softie, an emotional kid at heart and I love comeback stories. And to bring this full circle, since on the first page I proclaimed an opportunity for three points if we get an early goal and make a tired Orlando chase.....2-1, with Williams getting a goal for a meaningless win, in a meaningless game, in a lost season.
Sauro is fine. He's absolutely an MLS quality player. He's a starter on what of the worst teams in MLS history. What would increase his value was having him mentor a guy like Keita in Crognale in real competitive matches. Starting him alongside Williams is meaningless. And don't get me wrong, this is more about Williams' inclusion and Mensah missing through injury than it is about Gaston.
Thank you. PoD must be drunk as well. Sauro out injured. Keita in. I for one applaud starting Sauro & Williams. 14 games are left, too early to throw in the towel. I also applaud doing something different. 433 with two 8s ahead of Trapp is at least something. I'd have moved Argudo inside for Artur or Guzman (who has two awful corners) & started Hansen.
Zardes has hit the bar. Santos also (with a cross). Bench: Kempin; Keita, Jimenez; Clark, Sosa; Accam, R. Williams.
