You mean we didn’t sign Huntelar and “forgot the name of dm” in winter transfer market and then realized we could register only one of them?

    That's false ^^.

While it works out somehow in most cases, it doesn't always work.

Lewandowski last year was a case showing it can fail. He tried everything, and even recruited Zahavi that is an expert for these cases in which a club refuses to sell.

I posted here polish newspaper articles about that, and he really, really tried, but Hoeness never gave in (also posted hoeness own comments here, people already forgot the violent comments he made about all that story it seems). He could have pull off a Griezmann but due to no release clause + Hoeness being dead on not selling, it would just have hurt his own image.

Nowadays, big clubs are rich, and are not really after money. Image became more important. Showing that you are a solid institution that doesn't give in to threats can become more important than trying to please an a** that wants to force a transfer. Manchester either will not sell or in the worst case for them won't make any gift, meaning it would be an expensive transfer.

Therefore, realistically nothing is assured. neymar is not 100% sure to leave PSG till it is official, same for Pogba.

"these days"? How has a player got more power now that they did previously? If anything, the opposite is true. There used to be a time where teams needed to sell players, or couldn't afford not to, to raise funds. Now, especially in the Premier League, teams are in no rush at all.

Take Zaha for example. Skill wise he's worth £40m, probably less, but Crystal Palace can afford not to sell him and ask for any fee they want. They don't want to sell so they don't have to. Player has a contract and there's nothing much he can do besides strike (which players could always do).

All you said is that Lewa didn’t do all he could to leave because it would have hurt his image.
PSG and City are unique cases and of course it’s not 100% of the time, there are always exceptions to the rule (this is obvious unless you’re on a nitpicking quest) but for the most part if a player wants out he will get out, especially in England where they have transfer requests.

I have seen players forcing the way out of clubs more so in the past 10 years than ever before, this may or may not be fact, frankly ,no offense, I don’t care enough to argue over it.

Zaha ,to Palace, is worth more than 40 mil, he is their best players so of course they’re going to try to get as much as possible for him, if he wants out however and Man Utd pay a reasonable price ( relative to today’s market) the transfer will happen.

What is he gonna do? Go on strike? He has a long contract so Manchester United aren't going to do a thing. They wait for 4 more weeks to see in anybody matches their insane price, if nobody does, he's welcome with open arms.

Manchester United are appearing to have set a price. So the deal is pretty easy.

Polish said he weighted the pros, and cons of a strike, and there was 0 chance that Bayern gave in anyways. So besides shooting his own foot, it was useless.

    So yes, he tried everything.

In the end, players also look at their paycheck. They won't do the most retarded things. They have plenty of advisers that won't let them do it.

Griezmann went on strike because he has a release clause.

Neymar didn't show up on the 8 because he claims Henrique, the previous Sporting Director said he had to be there on the 15. And he still claims he'll be there on the 15 as it was agreed with Henrique.

In both cases, it isn't comparable to Pogba at all.

Pogba won't go on strike if his advisers tell him he will earn nothing from it. That doesn't mean he isn't trying all he can besides the most retarded usless things.

Fair enough, I however doubt they’d want an unmotivated Pogba which would explain why they’ve been trying to sign a couple of different midfielders in recent days.

Not showing up to training when trying to force out a move is neither retarded nor useless in most cases it’s effective, Lewa didn’t do that, correct?
Anyways even if I grant you that there was no way for Lewa to leave my initial point would still stand which is that players more often than not dictate how these things go. But yes there are exceptions.

Lewandowski commented on Dembele who was doing that to Dortmund at the time calling it pathetic I believe.

He's been unmotivated for like two years. Hard to tell the difference anymore.

Our coach would rather go into the season bare naked than without Pogba. They have leverage. We are desperate for the player, they would love to keep him.

A lot of people criticize Pogba's attitude but he's reported back to Man Utd and has been training with the first team already.

I still don't believe this means anything (him staying), I still think we have a good chance of landing him depending on the players we can sell.

After Griezmann has been made official for the filthiest of clubs, I'm sure our club feels under pressure to counter with another big signing.

Those (french medias included) that criticize him mainly criticize his attitude on the pitch (mainly that he isn't constant games after games minus in tournaments like the WC), not outside.

    Thanks for clarifying that.

I think he would be a great addition to any team. I do feel, however, that he wasn't being used properly in United (I should say he isn't...)

Let's see where this goes but a midfield of Casemiro, Pogba, Modric and Kroos sounds pretty damn good to me.

I'm a bit worried in the sense that it's really easy to perform well when you have Pirlo and Vidal by your side giving you the freedom to play how you like.

We've never seen that level from Pogba since not for Man Utd and not for France, people will disagree with me, but his performances for France don't impress me alot.

Either way, if we buy him I'll support him, if not I might be more relieved than anything.

I agree with your assessment here... I won't be upset if he doesn't join us but I do feel like he could be a major upgrade for us if he does.

If anyone can get the best of this type of player, I believe it's Zidane. Having Modric, Kroos, Casemiro around him would also definitely help him express himself more freely on the pitch.

I know that in (for example) BPL terms, you are right. But the case is that I don’t think UEFA sees them as homegrown. Because the true definition of homegrown means from your own academy. BPL made their own definition out of it. For the CL I think they mean players from your own academy so that’s why they don’t count Marcelo and Varane.

From one of my closest cule friends on Grizi:

“It’s a market power move to neutralize Madrid’s off season. Personally i don’t think they needed him idk if he’s a good fit. But he’s a world class player and Barcelona have another one at their disposal to maximize Messi’s prime. Excited to see him but worried he might flop”

Do you think he’s correct in suggesting they have “neutralized Madrid’s offseason”?
