It just occurred to me whilst I was day drinking on my birthday that there's been no announcement, to my knowledge, of that hoariest of #crew96 traditions, a mid-season friendly with a mid-table European club (Dirty Leeds, Aston Villa, the Barcodes, et cetera...) What's the deal? Is the new regime so hostile to Columbus tradition that they would deprive us, the long-suffering fans of America's hardest working team, the chance to see, e.g. current Rowdies' wingback Ashley Young hit a screaming thunderbastard into the upper corner? Or the modern day equivalent of (wet Wednesday night) Stoke midfielder Rory Delap heaving a throw in into the upper corner?

But I digress. Clearly the new ownership has no respect for tradition. I for one am appalled.

You can have my tickets for whatever friendly Crew eventually land. These mid-summer friendlies hold lower priority than Mascot Soccer.

It seems to me that for all their NFL connections the Haslams have zero understanding of how to grow this game in Columbus. It's horrible enough that we have to watch teams like Orlando City and Philadelphia steamroll us week after week. We don't even get Chelsea FC legends Oriel Romeu and Ryan Bertrand go through the motions on vacation with Sothampton and convince ourselves we have an actual professional football team in Columbus.

At least the Cincinnati game is sold out and the stadium will be half full of FCC fans.

    To the Haslams!1/1!!!

I thought we heard a long time ago that there would be no friendly this year?

Clearly I wasn't paying attention. Hell, it's mid-July and I'm only now noticing?

Maybe we could play an impromptu friendly with my beloved fourth-tier Bradford City, so no matter who loses ican be miserable.

They required a brand-new thread to complain. Why bring facts into this farce?

Let's gave it. That has a 0-0 draw written all over it.

That would be a great result for both teams, sadly.

Your thread is trending, Bach. I would say that you could die happy, but:

    1) I doubt it.

    and

    2) Most likely I would receive a card from a wandering mod.

Fully expecting that we will get the classic "post-season-friendly-to-make-up-for-no-playoffs" game against Guatemalan 2nd Division side Juventud Pinulteca.

This is, and I'm serious, the first thread I ever started on this forum. Only took a decade.

DC United lost 8-1 last night to Olympique Marseille.

I anxiously await the day that our pigskin loving saviors can bring a club of simlar pedigree and history to Columbus and for Columbus Crew to be similarly embarrassed.

    To the future!!!!
