Or maybe we should play Argentina, then Uruguay - nice, relaxing shopping junket for them, good competition for us.
Hard Rock is doubtful, the Dolphins play at home on August 22 and September 8 and 15th. I guess it's possible they would want to redo the field for soccer midweek, but I think it's pretty unlikely.
Orlando or FAU would be my next guesses. Big Uruguayan community in Florida, they're bigger in the NY/NJ area but FL would be the next "money making" place for the USSF.
Let's just say I have it on pretty good authority that the Uruguay match will be in a city with a great big Arch.
No such thing with Mexico...we could play them once a month and rotate between cities and we'd still sell out the matches
Well we don't necessarily sell them out but yes I'm sure Azteca New Jersey will be filled for the friendly.
Assume this is more of a wanting to continue to build up the STL market, with upcoming MLS expansion possibility. They've had good crowds at Busch during the mens WCQ and the recent WNT friendly. Like USSF has done with Cincinnati the past few years.
we do have a vibrant central and south american immigrant community, and a large soccer community here. IN addition to the match, i've also heard that an expansion announcement could be included with this match. we had ~36k on a mid week game for the WNT. i think we could get 40k+, especially if an expansion announcement is included. we are 2 months out and i hops USSF announces something very soon
Not sure STL is the proper venue in september given it will still be baseball season, unless its another stadium other than Busch
Cards are on the road until friday that week, WNT was at busch in May vs New Zealand while the Cards were on the road.
This article from a Uruguayan tabloid published a week ago says they will play a friendly in St Louis on September 10th... vs Mexico! http://www.carasycaretas.com.uy/uruguay-busca-un-partido-para-noviembre-y-asi-cerrar-la-serie-de-amistosos-2019/ If the #USMNT plays in the NYC/NJ area & St Louis in September and in Toronto in October, where do you think they will host Cuba after the Toronto game? Close to Toronto (but where they haven't played in some time)? Boston maybe? It would not conflict with the Patriot's schedule. http://www.patriots.com/schedule/ I still stand by my guess that the November game will be in Atlanta. The game is on a Friday night 7:15pm EST; it has to in in the Eastern time zone.
OMG...thats is hilarious. we do have a very thriving central and south american population in STL city...it would be interesting if that were the case.
Well the USA vs Mexico game has been confirmed for September: 📄 | NOTA Hey, Nueva Jersey...¡Nos vemos muy pronto! 😎 ⚽️ 🇲🇽¡Prepárense para otro Clásico 🆚 🇺🇸!Entérate: https://t.co/V5N09fw5j2#PasiónyOrgullo | #FMFporNuestroFútbol pic.twitter.com/q2lw4nCRLR— Selección Nacional (@miseleccionmx) July 15, 2019 and Mexico have said they are playing Argentina, so the Mexicans clearly aren't playing Uruguay in St Louis: 🎙 "El partido que jugaremos contra Argentina en septiembre, seguramente nos hará crecer mucho".🗣 Gerardo Martino.#GoldCup2019 | #FMFporNuestroFútbol— Selección Nacional (@miseleccionmx) June 28, 2019 Tabloid mistake?
I just can't see them playing vs. Cuba in an NFL stadium (surface and attendance issues). If we're basing it on places near Toronto that are in EST... Philly, Columbus, and even DC all seem more likely to me than Gillette. Non-MLS, maybe Hartford.
It appears to be Uruguay in St. Louis. Confirms what I had been hearing. USMNT to face Uruguay in Sept. in a friendly. Rodrigo Romano, a journalist in Uruguay, says it will be in St. Louis. https://t.co/zdiKEIKRIt— Roger Gonzalez (@RGonzalezCBS) July 19, 2019
And, it's now official... USA vs Uruguay, Sept. 10, in St. Louis https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2019/07/usmnt-vs-uruguay-announced-september-10-st-louis
