Hello McFly, if you're gonna jump into a conversation it's best to know what it's about.

A more self aware person would have noticed that every single reply to you has been repped, but none of your posts has been.
But then a more self aware person would have noticed that the tired cliche he is using is literally older than the 50's were when that movie came out.
That's all aside from the fact that using it unironically when it was the tagline of the biggest sexist douche in that movie, who was a metaphor for all the regressive sexist attitudes of the 50's - and was in fact *based* on Donald Trump - in a thread about Rapinoe's protest of all that represents, just shows you are completely okay with politics in sports as long as it is the sexist politics of the 50's.
Definitely another great representative for Trump.

I'm sure you did your best to make them unteachable. Hopefully you failed at that.

While the Biff Tannen routine is extremely stupid, argumentum ad populum is just as obnoxious.

I guess unlike you, I don't really post to get "likes".

A more aware person would have noticed this has already been discussed back a few pages.

Sorry to disappoint you, I'm not a fan of Trump. Never voted for him, never will. Disliked him since the 80's.

Sorry, you really have no clue.

But I did, meyers. One of them said what a reactionary fool you were. I'm not going to say which one. I thought that student was terrific. :)

Interestingly (at least to me) they've all 3 turned out pretty conservative while having attended a pretty liberal college (UMASS). I think it opened their eyes to the stupidity/deceitfulness/bigotry that is liberalism. Probably better than I could have ever taught them.

Oh yea, almost forgot. Soccer, Rapinoe. There, see we're still keeping it on topic. ;)

    Mission accomplished.
Seriously, though, likes don't mean someone is right, but when it's that lopsided it's a good indicator you should at least question your assumptions.
Really? The connection of that character to Trump was discussed in this thread?

And yet you incessantly quote his parody version unironically. You should support him, because he definitely supports the kind of values you are expressing here.

There's an awful lot of personal shots being taken, and a whole hell of a lot of assumption of mal-intent.

    Why?

On page 12, a moderator raised the question of whether this thread should be closed down. At that time (the day before the World Cup final), I said it shouldn't be. Now I believe it should be. It's become completely repetitive. This is my last post on this thread. Very best wishes to everyone.

    Hi folks,

I've taken a middle road. It is possible to turn off a poster's access to a particular thread and I've used that strategy here, in response to a series of posts that seemed designed to harass rather than discuss.

The World Cup is over, but the fight still continues my dudes. It is time we move on and fade these trolls.

Oh magical Big Soccer forum, let the soccer Gods close this thread so that we no longer have to endure the cringeworthy references to a film made in the 1980s.

Just saw this on a women's basketball board. Nine minute video from CNN: Megan Rapinoe talking with Anderson Cooper about Trump and other matters:

Yeah they are making the media rounds on the nat'l news shows today. She had a great interview with Anderson Cooper and then another great one with Rachel Maddow a few minutes ago.

    Great piece of journalism.

I look at the USA from the perspective of an European citizen, and I have to admit that there are many things I question about US economics, society, international politics, and so on (the very fact that Trump is now in power means that there must be something wrong). But I totally admire a country where someone can speak so freely and so boldy to a president-in-office as Megan Rapinoe did in this interview. This is democracy! :notworthy: (And I guess it has to do more with the state of the media in USA then with the state of the governance in the country)

Yes.. Politics is severely broken and so is society..and everyone stares at their phones and replies on twitter and yuck.

I saw a poll on the Guardian saying Megan would beat Trump in a general election.
I laughed and wish it were true, maybe it is.
    Who knows anymore. ???

She does have the ear of the nation at the moment. If she goes into Politics.. I’d vote for her as she probably has the best interests of the nation in her heart.

God knows we need some of that now.

Anyone have a link to the Maddow/Megan interview?

That's the way both sides play the politics game. But hey they are so much better than everyone else it would be rude to point it out.

Rapinoe continues to embarrass herself, her team and the country. I wish she would just shut her mouth and dribble. I also hope she only speaks for herself and stands alone. Its an honor to be invited to the White House. It will only happen once for most. The only one talking is Rapinoe and since she is slamming Trump, the media is all over her. Agreeing to meet congress IS AN INSULT to the President and that is why they are doing it. They will do anything to belittle him and they are playing the team as suckers in their addenda. I hope most refuse to be pawns in what is going on there

It's an honor only if one believes it to be an honor. A feeling of "honor" is not some objective state. You're projecting.

    1. Why is it an insult?
    2. Why is this an issue at all?

That's a...unique...use of the plural of "addendum".

Public Policy Polling puts Rapinoe at 42% and Trump at 41% in an election for President.

Not bad for a woman who kicks balls for a living.
