austin fc supposedly has like 30k seat deposits, and will not be stuck with cheap owners in 15 year old notions of how to present mls games.

fcd is committed to their kids and presumably starting to make money off selling academy kids like richards and mckennie. and moving ahead of us in the standings again.

it will get ugly this offseason if we fall apart and will get worse in 2021 if we don't get our act together.

Until further notice, Austin has a worse ownership than ours. Now if they add someone with money andb rains, thatll change.

And I cant believe you guys slight the idea of signing a Chilean National Teamer as a 'nobody'

(At least that is how they'll spin it)

Austin's new owner is a real piece of work. Like undercutting his own Crew operations to force a move.
Envision the movie plot to Major League and the new owner submarines her Cleveland Indians to force a move. Funny thing is, the NFL owner from Cleveland went in on MLS and saved the Crew!

It doesn't get any uglier that losing to bottom feeder Cincinnati!

Eh, we lost to bottom feeder Toronto when they came in...and just about every other expansion franchise first go out. Almost like we suck at scouting. Weird, huh?

All of this is true and accurate and Precourt appears shady - but they are spending $200 million on the stadium and are first in the market with a pro sports team and will get a ton of those deposits converted. Stadium is in an odd location with minimal parking - sort of a force fit - but they will be strong economically out of the gate like a Portland.

I do have to give @CeltTexan proper respect for being probably one of the 50 people who remember the FOs ill-advised attempt at La Doce Norte sponsored by Budweiser as an artificial supporters group. IIRC, they had some sort low rider parade or other extremely ethnic pandering event about that same time.

    Correct!
Our Dynamo will beat an Atlanta 4-0, at a time when that in no way should be happening. And yet do the reverse and lose to a Cincy team when everything says that should not happen!
Or how we always got run off the field by Stevie Nichols Revs team in league play. But meet that same team in a Cup Final n we get by them in historical fashion! Houston sports teams are like this.

BTW, I didn’t do a comparison to 2019, but it looked like they carved up the seating into like 18 different areas or price categories which seems a bit much for a very basic stadium layout.

Historically in our nation's college gridiron scene, a University will have their home stadium carved into very simple seating arrangements.
First and most important are STH and their school alumni as such. These get placed on the choice sideline seats as desired.
Second is the band. Their location. Most often in a corner.
Third is the student's section. In one endzone. Most likely in conjunction with the band's location.
Fourth is the game day sales or flex package seats. Found all over the stadium.
Lastly, the visitors section. Often behind the visitor's bench or way up in the upper decks.
It really can be this simple for American soccer stadiums. Our FO can make their work less by the sections and more by who you want to sit next to for 90 minutes. Or stand as hinchada life goes! VAMO'!!!

Funny you should mention that because one of the pre-game promos was an interview with the new guy in charge of ticket sales pumping up the new mandatory system where you have to sign some legalese document that automatically renews your "membership" at the end of every July unless you remember to tell them to FO.

Email went out yesterday announcing renewals. I spoke to a bunch of people today that are so pi$$ed off they can't see straight and a confidential source told me that the FO has a vision. I opined that the vision involved the supporters groups and I was not corrected. They are going to bleed season ticket holders.

We are sorry to see you go. If you have any additional questions, comments or concerns please reach out to your account manager or the service team at (713)-276-7500. We hope to welcome you back to the Forever Orange family in the future! Go Dynamo!

I'm not opting out of anything because I never opted in. I removed my credit card details from my account.

I guarantee that this lame auto reply is going to bite them. We need a Sunderland Til I Die type FO-Season Ticket Holder intervention in person where they actually have to explain what their vision is and how they intend to accomplish it.

Brooksie, I understand all the emotions you are going through, I too bought season tickets day one in 2006 with really not having any expectations and then quickly gel in love with a hard nosed coach who really understood the league and the American player. This love affair continued as the cast of characters changed and evolved and then it faded into a strong fondness after the stadium was built and Dom left.

the goodwill remained despite the ineptitude and poor results until now when you have decided enough is enough and I need a financial divorce from all this because it’s so disrespectful being used this way.

You are going through stages of grief from pushing away something you have loved and invested in emotionally and financially - and it really hurts.

I was on auto-renew, so I had to opt-out before the end of July, which is ridiculous, given the season runs March-Oct. I will remove my CC info from FlashSeats too, just in case they decide I didn't really mean to cancel my seats.

Look, the strongest most ardent supporters of this team are losing interest and not renewing. I can't fathom they can continue to be financially viable if they keep this up. No matter how good they are at purchasing good young players and selling for a profit.

Just in case any of the Executive Staff of the FO are monitoring, I think I'll leave this here. Binge watch it on Netflix and live and learn

What amazes me is the absolute and complete lack of advertising. The only billboard I have ever seen is the one where Hardy Toll meets 610 and that one is not the most visible.

It seems the FO would actually want to do that to boost the image. I mean, what company doesn't want that. After all, a team is a business. They do these soccer nights out, meet the player events (I met Fuenmayor at a Specs) but unless you are plugged into the Dynamo you would never know about them.

We fans seem to be doing more just by wearing our gear out in town.

That video of the Sunderland AFC FO suits having an honest sit down over a pint with their ardent sponsors and club supporters is the very first thing I would do when looking to turn our now struggling MLS team around!

Good thoughts here. Even though I am the most critical and ardent whiner on here about the operation of the club, it'd be nice to have some reason to come back into the fold. Sadly, the club is offering nothing compelling for folks to buy season tickets IMO either on the business or soccer side. The club abandoned the fans, not the other way around. I stayed thru 2016 but others had bled off in 2015. Now you've got IMO a sizable portion of the legacy Dynamo fanbase who won't spend money on the team now out of principle rather than preference.

What's disappointing about the rollout of the 2020 Membership Club is that I expected more out of John Walker just because he seemed qualified and competent vs. Canetti who was always overmatched as a sports executive in soccer. But its more of the same Zig Zigler pump up stuff from sales guys while trying to hide the banana with all sorts of automatic enrollments and opt-outs and artificial "discounts" for season ticket holders while ownership won't invest in the roster at any level commensurate with the market size.

All I can surmise is the business side of the Dynamo conceded that ownership will never spend on the roster so they are going to market everything but the actual team and on-field product.

Look at the below slogan for the membership stuff:

    THIS GAME IS SPECIAL.
    WHEN POLITICS AND POLICIES CAN
DIVIDE US, THIS GAME UNITES US.
IN A CITY THAT SPEAKS MORE THAN
    145 LANGUAGES, THIS GAME SERVES
    AS OUR COMMON TONGUE.
WHEN SO MUCH ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO DISSENSION, THIS GAME CREATES COMMUNITY.
IN AN AGE SO FOCUSED ON TECHNOLOGY, THIS GAME SHOWCASES OUR HUMANITY.
THROUGH THE HIGHS AND THE LOWS,
    THIS GAME CREATES BONDS.
    THIS GAME CREATES MEMORIES.
    THIS GAME CREATES COMMON GROUND.
    THROUGH IT ALL,
    THIS GAME BRINGS HOUSTON TOGETHER.
