He did not do well during 6 seasons in the Bundesliga 1, 3 with Dortmund and 3 with Mainz. He played in 44 league games (only 4 in the 3 seasons with Dortmund). He had scored 7 goals in 19 games with Hanover 96 in the BL2 before going to Dortmund in the BL1. After Dortmund, he went on loan to Karlsruher for most of the 2003/4 BL2 season, where he scored 14 goals. He was then transferred to BL1 with Mainz 05 for 2 full seasons and part of a third. There, he scored 3 goals in 40 games. Conclusion: he was a solid BL2 player who did not produce at the BL1 level. Info courtesy of Wikipedia.

Dumb conclusion in its tendentious nature. Casey suffered the first of series of injuries, starting in '04. In '05, he tore his ACL and sprained his MCL. He have other serious injuries.

Not really comparable to Morris at this point.

its supported by years of video evidence.

otherwise it would beg the question...with those elite skills to call on anytime he wants...why such an average player?

    I mean elite speed
    elite quickness
    good on the ball
    good vision

that sounds like a good player too me...but why is he so far short of that?

At this point I’d take f’n Brek Shea over Morris. At least he might do something neat.

is it crazy to ask what this video from over two years ago was supposed to be?

I mean getting stopped one on one against the keeper against powerhouse Jamacica(haha) can't be proof of something positive is it?

if you think those two clips show anything elite or even very good.....I have bad news for you.

This is still true. March may have been rust. Eddie johnson, Jermaine Jones all have been publicly calling out on the guy. how many chances does he get? Is he even a star player in MLS?

Every coach does but the issues is more than half the team are “his guys” and those guys are not of the level. Point blank they aren’t good enough. Our pool isn’t perfect but 3G wasted a great opportunity to blood, test and prepare for the future. On Zardes, Jozy Morris, Trapp, Bradley, Omar, Ream, Lovitz. He could have brought a couple of them but all of them is far too much.

Morris should have never played on the right. He's much more effective cutting in from the left.

so you start with over half the team are 'his guys'...you then list 8 guys on a roster of 23 as 'his guys'...math isn't great

also guys like jozy and bradley have been around a long time for them to be 'his guys' of a coach who just took over.

I can easily add Roldan, Milo, Johnson (who he seems to rate higher than Horvath). Long is def a his guy call but he’s actually proven to be good so I didn’t include him. Arriola is too but has value in a 23. Lewis I didn’t include because he’s young and interesting but shouldn’t in the 23 over Sargent or Weah. I left out some cause they aren’t horrible. The issue is he’s locked in a short list of players. This gold cup roster is far far far far too close to camp cupcake one.

Jozy was brought when it was clear he wasn’t ready to play. You want to gamble on him for the final. Ok maybe but then you don’t bring 2 st. Bradley’s getting the system built around him. How more of a his guy can he be. We’re literally moving Adams to RB for him. Get real dude. Things might not be doom and gloom but they’re not good and Gregg hasn’t been good enough. His player selection has been bad, his overly complicated system has been bad.

Let me ask you this... are those players good enough? The players he’s consistently chosen time and time again good enough?

Maybe it was just the random nature of things, but I feel like when Morris first came around, he was much more aggressive. What I liked about him initially was he had a combination of speed, strength and aggressiveness that can be difficult to handle and he made things happen. I'm not seeing that aggressiveness so much anymore. Not sure what it is, maybe a different setup or position, maybe his long injury layoff affected him, etc. but he looked extremely pedestrian in the Gold Cup. Hopefully he eventually turns it around, but until he does, I hope we can find better options.

I thought he still looked that way when he came in as a sub for Boyd. I just don't think he can play like that and also pace himself for 90 minutes.

For me, the squad can use guys like Arriola or Morris, both to push the guys with a more guileful game like a Boyd, and to be an injection of energy off the bench. But if enough of our a-mid candidates pan out, I think we will only need one of them, and I think Arriola is more likely to be that guy. Knock on wood, within six months to a year our depth chart at the attacking mid/winger positions (the 3 in the 4-2-3-1) would look something like:

    1 Pulisic
    2 Weah
    3 Boyd (or perhaps Amon)
4 Pomykal (who would play central while Pulisic went wide)
    5 Arriola
    -----
    6) Morris/Mihailovic/Lletget, etc

I think we would only take 5 guys to a major tournament at those positions (as long as there was some positional flexibility) and Morris would end up 'below the line.' But enough guys have to pan out to get us there.

To be Honest, If i am playing argentina, brazil, france, and we started bunkering like Arena ball, i would choose Jordan Morris over many of our forwards.
