I wonder how many Mexico fans would show up anyway since their tickets likely become worthless on the resale market. A similar thing happened in 2017, when a B team Gold Cup Final featuring The US and Jamaica filled up an NFL Stadium
2013 was like that too. Tickets were cheap, but the crowd was good. Seemed like a lot of the crowd were Mexico fans with newly purchased USA gear for the game. For Jamaica vs Haiti... that would be something else entirely.
I remember being surprised by the Pro US crowd, in 2013 I even remember some Club America jerseys cheering when Brek Shea scored the winner. I guess I forget most Mexican-Americans aren't BSMX posters
People can be fans of multiple teams. Especially more casual fans. Especially international teams, where you might have the same connection to both sides.
I think a successful bunker by a completely overmatched team is one of the most entertaining things in soccer
Haiti are, it seems to me, larger and more athletic on the whole than this Mexican team. And if they can keep their shape and fitness up (Mexico coming off of 2 hours vs. Costa Rica), they could nip a goal and the game...
They're better people than me. I consider myself a chicagoan and this is my home, but the Bears and Hawks can eat shit regardless of who they're playing.
Many of our fans would be freaking out about how much we suck if we were 0-0 with Haiti in a semi after an hour.
I'm from NWI, I have lived in NYC for over a decade and I only pay to go to the meadowlands if the Bears or USMNT are in town.
Junior developer on my team got really offended on a company retreat when I stated "I hate Mexico". He had come in late on the conversation and had to spend an hour explaining the context. He didn't get it. He don't work here no more...
Yep. Also, I saw a bunch of heavy touches in the Brazil-Argentina match that would cause so much navel gazing had it been us.
If I found some life event where I found myself living there I think I would. I enjoyed them beating Germany, but felt kinda relieved they didn't make it past the round of 16. Having been to the old stadium a couple times, I don't really blame you. At least Soldier Field (I can walk there nowadays) and the Linc have easy transit. The Bears are a double whammy of hate though. Not only are they a divisional rival, but now that they're good I can't get tickets to see the Lions near home for less than 300 a ticket. Couple seasons ago I could go see a game for like 50-60% of face value.
I don't get the head-shaving when you play a contact sport. Yes, it feels more fresh, but the entire point of humans (and other mammals) having a lot of hair on their heads is to protect the brain.
