So no Lavelle for the World Cup final? Maybe no Rapinoe also. Good news we have Press and Mewis to replace them. Bad news-- that takes away two of our subs. Ellis doesn't have confidence in Sonnett, Long, Brian, McDonald or Pugh. She won't use Harris or Franch obviously. So I guess the subs will be Lloyd, Krieger and Davidson?

Wouldn't expect to use Krieger - that was just to get O'Hara off. Lloyd, Pugh, Davidson, I'd say.

Watching the replays, it becomes more clear how terrible that penalty was. If Houghton had been alert, she would have seen Naeher start moving to her right before the kick. Her momentum is already going that way, so just place it the opposite direction. Or one of the upper corners. Or just blast it up the middle. Anything but what Houghton actually did.

Anyone with a hamstring issue, I just don’t see being able to risk them in the final. Guess we’ll see if Rapinoe actually has a hamstring injury.....

I hope we face Netherlands. Sweden, even with our history, seems anticlimactic.

When USA was going to the corner did anyone else wonder if Cobi Jones had a daughter?

I'm glad they called the Penalty. I'd much rather have it this way with Naeher making the save then having to listen to England's fans complain about a no call.

Are Alyssa Naeher and Zach Steffen actually the same person? Great shot-stoppers, but nervous and prone to mistakes with the ball at their feet.

You must not have ever had a hamstring issue... the slightest tweak, you’re done. Why risk a starting position in the final for that....

England so wasteful, but well, the powerhouse of women's soccer has prevailed again. Just can't stand the arrogant vibe this American team is giving.

I’ve had plenty of hamstring issues. A whole lacrosse season, in fact. It depends how bad they are. And what your pain thresholds are

Actually Naeher is not a great shot stopper. She is average for good goalkeepers at best. She has highs and lows that are very wildly dispersed. She is the weakest part of this USWNT.

    Press in:

    Scores first goal.

    Horan in:

    Assists winning goal.

    Jill Ellis is rolling 7's.

Only criticism I might have is going defensive too early.

Because something like a PK can happen and it did...

Luckily England has a long history of missing penalties.:p

Nope. It would have had to have been against Mexico to evoke that kind of comparison.

what arrogant vibe, the fact remains that the US still plays one of the cleanest games around. The one arrogance I swa in display is that England sitll wants to play with those twin CB, mini disasters. Bright & Houghton & no real playmaker as Kirby & Stanway didn't start

I do not buy this whole arrogant argument. It is just sexist BS and a double standard.

This. Particularly because they'd be up in arms about the offsides too.

No home-cooking excuse here, the better team won.

Bullshit. The only arrogance is printed in the English tabloids. Y'all were just trying your damndest to drum up some locker room material, and you couldn't.
