40' 1-2 Bright boxes out Morgan at circle top right, swings right arm back to maintain the box-out and her forearm (or elbow) inadvertently clouts Morgan across her face. Didn't lead with the elbow, yellow card on Bright but not worse. 41' 1-2 Dahlkemper fk at 37m circle right, long to 9m 6-left, Horan backpedals and sideheads wide left into side netting. 42' 1-2 Off that clearance, Horan boxes out Scott, reaches her right arm back and dings Scott on the right cheekbone. Foul on Horan, VAR check for more ... no card.
43' 1-2 Heath right ck, to 2m 6-right, Daly heads away into far touch. 44' 1-2 O'Hara(?) right throw-in down to 6m wide right, Stokes knocks it to the corner flag, it deflects off the flagpole touchward, for a throw-in
No. But I might wrap one of my kids in foil, stick a wire in their ass and plug the other end into the antenna receiver on the back of the TV. Thanks for the inspiration.
45' 1-2 Bronze sprints down wide right from 30m(?), gets past Dunn through 8m, Dunn pokes over. 45' 1-2 Mead right ck, outswings to 9m 1/3 left, Scott twist-heads leaning backward, wide left. +1'. 45+1' (of +1') 1-2 USA longball through arc left, too far for Press, Telford comes up to 14m and collects. HT 0-1. England 2(2)-(4)9 shots(sog), 1-2 corners, 3-3 fouls, 9-3 tackles, 16-9 clearances, 49% possession, 80% (191/240) - (130/169) 77% passing. England do a bit more defending against USA's onslaught.
keep other side off guard? Its like quarterbacks in NFL. They never want to say what the injury really is on a quarterback.
I think England has to move Bronze further up the pitch in the 2nd half and let her and Parris play together
I don’t like Neville’s changes. Too attacking and leaves the defence vulnerable with the game being too open. Stanway should have come in. Instead of one of the wide players. I would have liked to have seen how Bardsley did with both goals. Don’t think Telford looked great on either. Real shame she got injured. Stokes and Bright are out of their depth but that was obvious before this game.
Yeah. I don’t see the advantage in disclosing an injury to a key player the opposition is dedicating time toward creating tactical countermeasures.
I was thinking they need to bring Parris back on the wing and switch to a midfield 3. She isn't involved enough up top.
Definitely. If they're a goal down and there's not much time left, then they need to gamble. I'd like to see England take some risk already now, doesn't matter how much they lose really
What Bronze/Parris did to Norway's LB Minde, O'Hara/Lavelle are doing to Stokes. Actually, Heath/Lavelle are interchanging on the right, while O'Hara sneaks up right touch and looks like a groundskeeper or something. We can't keep that up all game, so we'll pick certain moments to go for it. White scored a quintessential White goal. Meanwhile, Walsh gets wide-open at her spot around arc top mid-left. We probably need to disrupt those further upfield before they get open. Daly hasn't combined with Bronze particularly well on the right, so Dunn has been relatively untested so far.
Pretty sure she was offside. Though it seems like they've switched VAR off for the last couple of games :-|
I hate it when defenders take a dive and expect immunity like that, be it the women's game or the men's game.
