Vermes says it's "minor" Peter Vermes said Johnny Russell’s hamstring injury is minor. Russell was at Pinnacle today for some treatment.— Sam McDowell (@SamMcDowell11) June 24, 2019
i wouldn't mind bashing in the skulls of rsl... but at this point, i'd be alright with a draw ... but ONLY if it isn't a result of a late equalizer for them.
No Russell this weekend: Johnny Russell will be out this week, as will Jimmy Medranda. Both have minor hamstring injuries. #SportingKC— Sam McDowell (@SamMcDowell11) June 27, 2019
Medranda again? Feels like he's been on the roster for 5 years yet I can barely remember him being on the field.
He played a lot two or three years ago. But yeah, been ages since he's been a regular difference-maker for us. Which sucks, because he was finally coming around to being a really useful piece of the squad. Side note, he's been with us since 2013.
Looking at this game objectively, I don't see a lot of positives. The injury list is filling up again and the defense hasn't gotten any better. RSL got beat up on the road in their last couple of games, so they should be spoiling for a fight against their dreaded rival that rarely plays well at Rio Tinto. I hate to say it but.... RSL 3 - SKC 1. I hope SKC have something cooking in the summer window that can slow up the increasing goals-against number.
I wasn’t too far off. I expected SKC to put at least one in the net. But the reality is the back line is slow, out of sync, and much too easy to beat. It’s really hard to watch.
I don't like Nate but he's in a difficult position. What is he going to talk about? The stupidity of starting super extra hard altitude training before anyone had established a proper fitness base? Or the lack of offseason moves to improve the team? Or how Zusi looks like he lost three steps and is a total dumpster fire? Or how dumb personnel decisions and bad contracts (Croizet, Fontas, Zusi) will be financial anchors for years? Or how PV still can't admit a single mistake and make tactical adjustments to fit tactics to players available? Or should he remind viewers about the BS PV speewed after being outcoached in the playoffs last year (that last years personnel moves were really made with this year in mind)? Not a Nate fan, but he's polishing a turd.
I've been a STM since 2002 and have seen some fairly ugly seasons for the Wizards, but don't ever remember the Wizards nor SKC being in last place in the middle of the season. PV pulled Nemeth and replaced him with Croizet. That should tell you how ugly the situation is at the striker position. Getting Johnny and Roger back would do a lot to help, but I don't know what PV is going to do about the defense. At least they are not giving up 7 goals a game like Cincinnati...oh wait, LAFC is the next game..
