Many times in the past since Takakura took over it took Nadeshiko about 30 minutes to find their game... There is a good chance they keep improving...
I hadn't consciously thought about it, but now that you mention it, it's awesome: complementary colors (orange = red + yellow vs blue).
That pretty much describes every striker the US has on the men's side. The level of incompetence is amazing.
IT'S TIED! Another lovely combination from Japan leads to a clinical Hasegawa finish, and it's 1-1. #FIFAWWC pic.twitter.com/5ngexRcKrq— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) June 25, 2019
The Dutch need to get some shots out of their mids and Martens and Van de Sanden. Japan is surrounding Miedema every time she looks to get the ball, and The Netherlands may be looking for her too much. The Dutch also need, I think, to be quicker in transition when they win the ball in the middle of the field. Too much back-passing at times, I think.
On Nadeshiko Japan someone mentioned a Japanese player high fiving a mascot: has anyone a gif of it? Pretty please!!!
15' 0-0 Martens cross from wide left, ball rattles around, out to box top mid-left. van de Donk shoots rising off torso or arm, over endline left, R1 ignores all calls for handball. 16' 1-0 Netherlands left ck, to 6-top 4-left. Martens cuts center-to-left, right backheel deflects through Sugasawa's wicket, flat across mouth with Yamashita wrong-footed, just behind right post low. Both my monitors and all of my electronics go off, outside on the street I hear a loud *POP* ... WHAT. A. GOAL! 🔥🔥Lieke Martens' backheel flick nutmegs a defender on the way in for the 1-0 lead. #FIFAWWC pic.twitter.com/ODGAxrvzAj— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) June 25, 2019 ... followed by surprised squawks from my neighbors on both sides. Transformer blew out
The Japanese player really needed to release the player to her right. Would have been 1 v 1 against the 'keeper.
Well, they do say in the banner that the only knockout stage loss was in the finals so apparently they do consider quarters, semis, and finals as part of the knockout stage...its the stats themselves which are wrong...kinda confused on the remark in general now
Due to trying to answer a plethora of questions from the granddaughters I missed if there were any subs at the half. Were there any?
