90+7' (of +7') 3-0 England ping ball around, backpass. Houghton chases to midfield left touch, flicks right outstep upfield, Takounda steps on Houghton's right foot as it was rotated outward, Houghton crashes into near touch. Leg-breaker of a tackle. Definite red card at any stage of a game. Outrageous.#WWC2019 #ENGCMR #Lionesses pic.twitter.com/WAJZjNr6ku— James Hubbard (@JamesHubbard113) June 23, 2019 My goodness, I can't believe Cameroon didn't even one red card, the referee as the most patience I've ever seen on a person #ENGCMR #ENG #CMR pic.twitter.com/AmQ78jGHvt— IcefoxX (@IcefoxXLP) June 23, 2019 90+9' (of +7') 3-0 VAR check for red card 90+10' (of +7') 3-0 No, yellow card on Takounda. Houghton returns. FT 3-0. Wow, every day is crazier than the previous day. England 7(3)-(2)8 shots(sog), 4-2 corners, 3-4 offsides, 4-11 fouls, 30-61 clearances, 63% possession, 80% (453/569) - (157/256) 61% passing. Somehow, these stats seem entirely overshadowed.
My final verdict is that 1) one or more players on the Cameroon bench should have been sent off for dissent after the disallowed goals, 2) England should have been given a penalty for the stomp on the foot, and 3) a red card should have been issued on Takounda for that last incident. A referee's job is definitely not to calm a team down. Rules have to be applied by the letter of the law. Weak display by the referee all day long.

I only came in late. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Well, Cameroon should feel fortunate that the referee was such a coward. They should have ended the contest with 9 players and being slaughtered by more than 3 goals. That is how I see it.
Unfortunately, I don't think the Cameroon FA will do a single thing. We have seen similar behavior with their men's team back in 2014 (cue the group match against Croatia).
They head back home and have the Olympic qualifiers to focus on. I'm sure this will put a fire in them to qualify and get revenge.
To start I would have issued a red card for that blatant elbow driven into the English player in the first five minutes. More than likely that would have made the match more controllable because it shows that I respect the laws of the game. Also I would have taken a look to be sure on the offside calls. Goals are too important to allow someone not the head referee to decide. Also when Cameroon went off their rockers I would have issued at least 4 or 5 yellow cards. But in reality after issuing one they probably calm down so no more are needed. To sum it up I would have refereed the match with some courage instead of like a coward.

Seeing the elbow early in the match, and the way which Cameroon behaved all match, it really seems that there was something pre-match which set the tone. Anybody have any idea what that might have been?
Cameroon were the same in the game against the Dutch. They just look way too hyped up in games. It’s like watching an old school 70’s team that like to attack every 50/50 challenge like their life depends on getting there.
Did he have this same energy when his buddy Becks kicked Simone back in 98? Y’all kill me with this caring about “kids” BS.
