Ca you imagine, say, the Gold Cup in Costa Rica or Mexico? It’d be fantastic experience

    Not really.

The old adage is win your home games and draw on the road. If they simply did that, even just in Bruce's 8 games, they would've qualified.

Getting a draw in Trinidad, or even at home against Mexico or Costa Rica, would've been enough.

Know you're just making excuses. Truly good teams can get results on the road

Any good keeper should have stopped it.

While it would be good for the US to play more road games, and we should aim for winning more road games ... no one wins consistently on the road in WCQ in CONCACAF.

Not us when we are good, not Mexico. I actually went through and did the numbers a while ago, but if you back four or five qualifying rounds, the US actually has a better record on the road with Mexico.

But neither team consistently wins. The win at home, tie on the road is the best any program has consistently done.

I for one eagerly await the return of our Heroes of Couva battle against mighty T&T again. The best part is that some of the same heroes of our last qualifying campaign return to joyous applause from a grateful fan base. Can’t wait to see more magic happen!

    You're crazy.

It was a hard, dipping shot that almost nipped in the inside of the post.

Cobi Jones seemed awestruck by it. Phil Schoen said that world-class doesn't do it justice.

Again, this is a response to something that I never said.

So now I'm making excuses by relaying a factual claim. If you win at home and draw on the road you will qualify.

The US did not need to win any road matches to qualify. Fact.

That doesn’t seem very generous to the quality displayed by these five other teams. The US can’t expect to just roll over the likes of Panama, Honduras, and TT. I mean look how these guys did in the WC and playoff.

Wait, now google tells me it starts at 7? Sigh...

unrelated: someone needs to photoshop one of those 90s laser backgrounds behind the official USSF headshots.

No matter how lucky was the strike from that distance, any good keeper stops it.
You have no clue about goalkeeping. Not much about the rest either.

Yeah, no way we could've matched Australia's 3-1 aggregate win over Honduras.

Except we beat Honduras 7-1 in aggregate during the Hex.

So you don't think Tim Howard was a good goalkeeper.

    Noted.

my advice for you would be that you clearly don't like the team and you rarely talk about the sport...maybe find a hobby that you enjoy?

Dude I’m on your side. I think our last qualifying campaign was great and we just got unlucky at the end and missed by inches. Fans don’t understand how difficult it is to finish ahead of Panama and Honduras, much less Costa Rica (finishing ahead of Mexico would be a pipe dream).

That would be wonderful. Sure hoping that's the case!

The only thing he's done in the opposing teams 18 the last few games he played is foul them. Wonder if anyone has a count of many corners he's killed in his last 5 USMNT games.
