I don't know but these questions are tiring. Everybody has their favorites or guys who they think should be called in ahead of others. That's the beauty of national teams. There are hundreds of players in the pool. Every roster selection has people complaining about people who are not on it.
You've REALLY never watched the bottom two thirds of the Premeira Liga, have you? Like, it's ok to admit you're talking out of your ass.
Here's what you said: OfficeSpace said: ↑ somehow Qatar beats a bunch of slapdicks in Asia and now they're better than us. Here's whom Qatar beat so they are slapdicks according to you: - Japan - South Korea - UAE - Iraq - Saudi Arabia
I'm as anti-Egg as anyone on here but Green isn't the hill we should die on. I would rather see Green than Mihailovic but I'd rather see Hyndman than either of them. Honestly, I hope none of them see the roster for our first WC qualifier because Adams, McKennie, Canouse, Pomykal, Holmes, and Lletget all get healthy and start lighting up their leagues. That's a young, athletic core with guys that can actually defend and attack.
Why are we talking about Chandler? He played 16 minutes all last season. After a season of injury, his summer is best spent with his club so he can get back to form. They will understand his needs to get him back better than anyone. As for FJ, yeah, BMG went to China for 1 week directly after league ended. That is a lot different than the one month plus overseas for Gold Cuo. I suspect (don’t know) that FJ is happy to spend time with his wife and kid, The dude is super laid back and I’m not sure he would even add veteran leadership at this point. Berhalter certainly knows him a lot better than any of us.
I'm ready to stand down if you have additional information. All I see when I google Tim Chandler and exhaustion is this where he explicitly states the opposite while confronting his B1 coach: https://www.espn.com/soccer/united-...ndler-rejects-coachs-suggestion-to-quit-usmnt Right now, you have a bunch of articles from February 2013 and earlier describing how he wasn't ready to commit to the USMNT over Germany. I guess we should throw Adams onto the scrap heap for pulling out of camp with injury. bummer, he's not a bad young player.
heres how much a lot of you suck- im not familiar with the term "slapdick". i assume its from something i just dont know- "old school", dane cook, whatever. so when the original post that said "beat a bunch of slapdicks" i very low level chuckled, and moved right on. and now, like ten pages later, there are detailed arguments on whos a slapdick, what that implies, is that fair, no THOSE guys are the real slapdicks... why do you slapdicks (no pun intended) insist on arguing every minute detail of what anyone says? do you even care about the game this thread is on, the gold cup, us soccer, soccer in general? god, i LOVE talking about soccer. but some of you are just freaking cancer, and are seemingly here solely to make things miserable. i dont get it at all.
Please elaborate......on how im worsening the matter. I truly believe its a fantasy to think you can teach complicated tactics in shortened time. Without the right type of players on top of that. GB appears to be advocating a system very tough. He seems to be doing so in spite of conventional wisdom. Hes trying to implement things that in theory sound great, but he has no evidence of practical application. Hes now in the doubling down phase. Bringing back Gonzalez. Lovitz and Ream as lb? Trapp and Bradley sure fire locks. Playing players out of position To me these are moves made by an impractical idealist.
ChrisSSBB, I just wanted to get actual evidence for the constant assertion that we should ding Chandler for not being committed to the USMNT as well as to call out OfficeSpace for his ridiculous takes. As I've said multiple times, I have no problem if the older players (even though they have proven over several years that they can contribute at the Big 4 level) are excluded as long as the rationale is extended pool wide. If we're going to take veterans, why not take the ones that we have some recent evidence of playing at speeds above MLS/B2/Championship? Especially for those who play positions that we have an extreme lack of depth unlike DM and CB. That being said, the biggest issue is that Berhalter continues to build around Trapp/Bradley instead of Adams/McKennie and I view that as part of the same preferences that hurt the team. If he just tried to ever experiment over a couple of games with a pairing that is patently obvious, it would go a long way to muting my criticism. Lastly, we talk about how important it is for players to play in games so they are match fit (as opposed to being in the reserves). Given the importance of playing actual games, can't a reasonable case be made that players returning from extended injury would want the ability to get game-fit and get their game legs underneath them?
Hyndman played very little in the spring. He played a decent bit on his loan in Scotland in the fall then Bournemouth inexplicably recalled him to play him extremely sparingly in the spring. I'd have kicked the tires on him for the 40 and seen how he looks. He at least has some attacking abilities and connects passes well. Lletget has shown flashes, I hope he gets surpassed too but I don't mind him being around for now. He has good technique and decent vision. We could and are doing worse than having him around, and I know he's injured. I'd play McKennie and Adams as a double pivot with Holmes in front of them and see how that looks first.
Nah man. USSF BigSoccer operative is only for the most senior and experienced members of the hierarchy. We had to work our way up from twitter to earn the cash money that comes from this gig.
I know what I said that's why I called out your lie. I didn't call any players slapdicks as you claimed. And you can't even be honest about this either. These are ALL the teams Qatar beat. Lebanon North Korea Saudi Arabia Iraq South Korea UAE Japan Yes, I'd say that's a collection of slapdicks.
Haha... This is delusional. You are trying to create a hypothetical when we 2.5 years to look at. 2016 Johnson, Cameron, Yedlin, and Jones were much better than 2017 Villafana, Gonzo, Zusi, and Nagbe. There was a long list of MLS guys that Arena trotted out that showed they didnt belong. I dont recall many MLS guys impressing in 2018. The two that come to mind were Adam's and Steffen and they are now "globetrotting Yanks abroad". The MLS players are the weak links of this GC roster. These are supposedly the best that Berhalter has auditioned this year. Which MLS players do you think are more talented than which foreign based players?
These posters are insane, right? I mean they are so terrible at normal, reasonable debate that they just fall back on these semantic arguments to save face.
IMO, Lletget could have been pretty special, may still help us, but lengthy career interruptions look like the norm, sadly. Similar to Jozy, expect depth-wise we have guys that can probably bring as much to the table. With different profiles though: we might miss Lletget's particular creativity. Agree we've seen enough of Paxton that he's lined up for his shot, and he'll hopefully keep stepping up. Also hoping Lletget somehow puts his injury issues behind him. If he has a clear run from here on out he would certainly challenge for a starting role which would be good. When he's good, he's kind of like a 2010 WC Feilhaber, maybe a little less clever but with more of an athletic presence.
So people from Japan and South Korea (both ranked above the USMNT according to ELO) are slapdicks. Nice. still waiting on your Chandler information. You could be right but I'd like to see what you're basing it on.
Cute game you're trying to play here. But it's, again, a sign that you're lost and grasping for straws.
Still waiting for your proof. I notice that you don't like to make actual positions other than attacking other people's position.
