I was joking. I know you are not a troll, but you exaggerated with your negativity. The kids were fine despite the 0 - 4 and JFA didn't afford Copa America for Moriyasu to promote Japanese football/players but to test on the field the boys who in one year from now will hunt the gold medal in front of their whole country. 6/11 first timer, Shibasaki as the veteran, are you kidding me? There were no intention from the very beginning to win the group and/or reach the ko stage. If something will come more than the direct experience of an international "senior" tournament (no Toulon) it will be welcome, if not, it's nothing to be ashamed of.
yes dsl to have been negative ! it must be said that they finally played well for their 1st selection and it promises for the Olympic Games
I find Hajime's proposal interesting but much too clumsy, there are too many young people in the team for me to be able to learn anything from it. As it was raised right in front of me, players like Ayase Ueda would have had a great time at the Toulon Tournament, I think. But it gets me a little annoyed when I see people on Twitter who think that Moriyasu should get out of the way for that, I mean, the problem of this team is the problem of all the Japanese national teams for decades, realism is not specific to them. I may be a little too naive but, Moriyasu, since his beginning with the team, it's 12/2/3, I like the way he thinks, I think if we give him enough time, his young people would become war machines. From the moment it offered some game, I was happy, I honestly expected less than that (Sadly ending in the score, I expected that, but it's really unfortunate, for me, it was 2-0 bar point.) Come on, with a little luck, Uruguay will say "it's managed, quiet" given the score, and Kubo will come and score a hat-trick!
The FWs need to improve on their finishing for sure. Also, the team need to be better at not conceding from set pieces.
it was a "learning experience" but my issue, regardless of being a young squad.. same damn issues that plague all of Japanese football
The only thing I can think that they can gain is that they realise the gap between them and the top players in the world and maybe the general public would lower their expectations of the team in tournaments?
Just heard in a french talk show : "Japan destroyed by Chile" No mention to the fact that it was an U22 team + 3 seniors lol. Unfair.
To be honest, I think the Toulon tournament was the real testing ground because Japan played against some of the teams they may face in Tokyo. Sending the kids to the slaughterhouse like it was done yesterday is definitely not the best way to prepare that team for what will come. It is still frustrating though. When you think that even the likes of Gabon (Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang), Cameroon (Samuel Eto'o), Bulgaria (Hristo Stoichkov), Hungary (Ferenc Puskás), Ukraine (Andriy Shevchenko), and Sweden (Henrik Larsson, Zlatan Ibrahimovic) can seldom produce respectable and even legendary strikers who become names associated forever with their respective countries, people ought to ask WTF are Japanese coaches at home are doing after all of this time. And what about the kids themselves? Do they ever watch those strikers to the point the kids would model their own game after those strikers at all costs? Don't they want to become the next Michael Owen, the next Wayne Rooney, another Thierry Henry, another Zlatan, or something comparable to any of the great strikers we have grown to love? That would be a good starting point.
Kinda misleading to say that Gabon “produced” Aubameyang lol. It’s like saying Jamaica produced Musashi Suzuki.
Do you understand French? Because I live in France. Are you talking about the talk show " l'equipe des 5 ?"
Yeah, but even so, it is infuriating that they have one while Japan has had none. The point still stands.
It’s pretty funny that people are complaining about fullbacks no when just a couple of years ago we had a bunch Nagatomo, Uchida, both Sakai’s, Yasuda, Komano and no centerbacks. Now it’s the complete opposite, there are a bunch of good young centerbacks but not many fullbacks.
Guys, I still believe in qualifying, just beat ecuador and we have a chance to be in the best 3rd place.
Are we sure that sanding a senior team would have changed something? I mean: losing 1 - 2 with Kagawa & Co on the field is really better and more meaningful than what happened? At least these kids thanks to this Copa America will face whatever threat they'll deal with at the Olympics fearless and braveheart. Anyway this is not the first time that happened, I can clearly remember Uruguay did the same in a early 2000s edition and it seems it was worth it.
Slaughterhouse ? It was a 4-0 is not that Japan loose 12-0 or so. Everytime you can loose 4-0 and everybody who knows football knows that the score was to high. At least Japan would have deserve a draw. Chile was a bit lucky and clever in front of the goal that's all. Japan played a great game offensive and defensive with some mistakes of course. What are some guys talking about "Japan is out"? Still 2 games left and my hopes are high then ever. Maybe Japan lose again 4-0 but maybe not. With a performance like against Chile Japan can beat or draw against Uruguay, who knows. And Maybe 3 points would be enough to advance. Japan remind me Bet strong at Ajax Amsterdam this season. They where younger and beat almost every team. So even young and inexperienced teams can do wonder. Let's see but please don't be that negative.
I agree with you 3 points might be enough because I can't see the qatar and Paraguay beating Colombia and Argentina. Seriously, we have a great young team capable of making a great match against the senior Chilean team, who are two-time champions and who could have imagined this before
