Other than Muriel who had left early(so he doesn't count), I couldn't tell you any player on our side playing poorly. Ospina maybe the closest but he made some good saves to redeem himself....

Got to fix stupid some how... too many bad yellows taken...

I'm just very happy that things went very bad very quickly yet again with Muriel's injury, but we never crapped our pants.

The game plan went perfectly. Everybody played intensely on both sides of the ball.

    All 3 subs were influential.

    Unbelievable start to the tournament!

Falcao did well. He looked quite agile for what I'm used of seeing from him and his touch was decent a few times, he really made argentina's defenders work hard. Duvan entered and bullied everyone that got in his way.

    Wow.

    What a game!!

First half: mostly us in driver seat
Second half: arg started out in control but we maintained and then BOOOOM!!

3 points is 3 points! Still a long way to go. Can’t celebrate too much yet! I’m going to be at a work function Wednesday night. So will have to watch replay of 2nd half at least.

Loved how the whole team worked together to play defense - everyone was dropping back. I didn’t know Di Maria was on the pitch today. We shut his ass down!!!

Glad tempers didn’t get lost. Refs were losing control of the game at certain points

Ospina was great with his saves today.

Tesillo was very sharp; liked what I saw.

Davinson and Mina were beasts today.

Medina was fine; didn’t see anything that worried me

Uribe was good, but was losing focus at the end of the game

Cuadrado was a mixed bag today.

Lerma was a great sub and wow what a cross! That yellow card was bogus. He was just complimenting Messi’s haircut ;)

Barrios - beast mode, probably my MVP today

James - has some great passes and fought his way through some tough challenges. I don’t like his corner kicks.

    Muriel - N/A

Roger - amazzzzzing goal and set up for 2nd goal. Got greedy at one point in 2nd half; but I’m proud of him today

Falcao - haven’t liked him in lone striker formation for awhile.

Duvan - great goal and once again makes his presence felt on the pitch.

have to agree on all points to be fair. Good catch with Roger missing Falcao on that sequence... but damn boy, let him play!

You know, I have missed a lot after the world cup, tried to catch a few friendlies but not as much as everyone here I'm sure but idk if its Queiroz or the players themselves(maybe both) they LOOKED SO MUCH BETTER than they did in the opener vs Japan... much more poised, confident and with purpose, ********ing love seeing that in Yellow!

I think it's experience thats why. After playing against England (despite loss), I think this group believed they can beat anyone

The confidence is there, but most importantly the team chemistry was on point. If one person came to defend, another person took that missing spot.

    It was beautiful defense.

Yeah Roger was very good but he has to make that pass to Falcao, his body shape was open to be able to make it and Falcao had so much space. I'm happy he played well, I've always liked what he offers able to work outside and inside and holds off defenders well. Overall really like the changes that CQ has made, Cuadrado in midfield is good but he did dribble in one occasion that was super stupid with 3 Argie's around him lost the ball but luckily they gave it right back, that could have been a big f up.

I do agree Roger should of passed that damn ball. Will I hold it on him? No of course not, but I hope it's not a habit

Cuadrado did that more than once. And let's not forget his 3 or 4 attempts at being Quintero with lob passes that totally stifled our momentum.

The thing is, and I said this a couple days before the match, his work rate and style were so essential to our play, especially in the first half. His tirelessness gave us a lot of balance.

I've never seen us play Argentina as we did in the 1st half, we bossed them finally.

His foul-drawing is also good; the ref began to actually punish Argentina and was naturally pressured due to the fouls.

the best part is we actually scored goals, on a different day we would have outplayed them completely had a ton of shots on goal and scored nothing thus ending 0-0.

I must admit the Lerma-Cuadrado sub had me wondering if CQ was looking to keep the score 0-0....I even had my concerns about Roger coming on for Muriel.

But both moves played out brilliant. Time for a shot and a beer :)

I do wonder what kind of strategy we use against Qatar. We can’t discount them at all.

Yes I've wanted to see him as an 8 for a while, his overall profile really allows us to play that way since he can always break from midfield and defends and works tierlessly but oh man he can be scary when he takes those risks without a lot of cover and our defense out of shape. If he can just change his decision making in those areas he's gonna have another 3 years left at a top level playing central.

Was James sick his face looked pretty red and his free kicks/corners were fking awful but that cross to Roger was awesome

One thing if we will nit pick other then the corners was that we kept fking around in our box. A few times Medina, Sanchez and tesillo would lose the ball near our goal.

One thing they said in telemundo that Var should have given Argentina a PK or free kick when Barrios stole the ball from Messi.

But Var probably would have given paredes a red

There is no way that was a penalty, Barrios bossed Messi off the ball clean. Unless I'm thinking of another one the one I'm talking about is after Messi nutmegged someone.

We played textbook how to stop Messi, don't let him turn and receive easily and as soon as he does bring players from his blindside when he looks to run at people. Closed down the spaces around him really well and always kept an eye on him not letting him get into the really dangerous areas with space. So happy for Barrios, he's really shown how good he is, Lerma too was a perfect sub.
