I honestly think even Valverde can’t break FDJ :)

I see him being recognised as one of the best two or three midfielders in the coming years ... along with KDB and ...,

Word. One thing I always disliked about us Dutch is that we lack a backbone and start to complain and get all pessimistic at the first setback. So much doom and gloom on Dutch social media already, makes you think we have to face Spain instead of Northern Ireland..... Northern Ireland lost every single match in the nations league and is only on top because it has faced all the weakest teams already. Even with our rubbish offence, we will beat them easily. And if we don't, we don't deserve to go the euros.

  4. If these donot score I guess de Ligt and The Virgil will storm the gates and become the unlikely Euro topscorer dudes:)

    on de Jong
santos instructed William Carvalho, Danilo Pereira, Bruno Fernandes every time de Jong came into their part of the pitch to stick to him like glue, we never saw holland creat one decent chance in the 1st hour of the game

That is the hallmark of a great player though isn't it, being able to make chances even though you are being well looked after by the opposition?

Every great player can expect special attention from the opposing side - what sort of pressure and marking do you think Messi, Ronald, Ronaldhino etc were/are under?

This was more a result of the Dutch playing a deep double pivot with de Roon joining de Jong. de Roon is not the best at ball distribution and as an outlet did not add much to the game. Tactically it would have been better to have a single pivot with van de Beek in the match instead. This would have been a more dynamic MF and would have cause more problems for Portugal.

I saw this on Twitter... a list of young talents for striker position, sorted by age.

    Sam Lammers (22)
    Ferdy Druijf (21)
    Donyell Malen (20)
    Dylan Vente (20)
    Nick Venema (20)
    Joel Piroe (19)
    Thomas Buitink (18)
    Joshua Zirkzee (18)
    Myron Boadu (18)
    Daishawn Redan (18)
    Brian Brobbey (17)
    Naoufal Bannis (17)

The good news is that the options are plenty. The not-so-good news is that, as it stands today, none of them seem to realistically have a clear path to be in the starting lineup (or getting consistent first-team minutes) at their respective teams next season... which is to me is a minimum qualification to be in the conversation for the Senior NT. That being said, this transfer season is just beginning, so many things will unfold in next couple months.

Buitink is probably the closest one? He can challenge the aging Matavz for a starting role. Boadu may surprise, he was the first option and looked really good before his injury. Maybe Lammers and Malen force for a loan in order to get playing time if PSV's current trio stay put? Redan is rumored to force his way out from Chelsea so a lot depends on where he lands.

Its a pity how things have turned out for zivkovic. This could have been his chance if he would have stuck around. His salary was a big issue which resulted in many clubs not wanting him. Should have taken a pay cut and moved back to groningen or even Utrecht. More of a situation where beggers want to be chooses.

I'm surprised that Kaj Serhuis was not on the young striker list. He has a chance at Groningen to prove his worth. He certainly scored goals when he was in the Ajax youth system. Also notably missing is future Ajax star, Denzel Darko, who got the award for goal of the month in May!!!!!

Yep, good point on Sierhuis. Should be on the list. If he’s staying with Groningen, he may increase his stock!!

He is on loan for this season and Ajax retain his rights.

I think brobbery will beat him to ajax first team if he continues his form with jong ajax.

Between that how often we see players returning from loan spells at ajax. Matusiwa was also on loan at De Graafschap and has signed for groningen which makes it more conclusive that sooner or later sierhuis will also be sold.

One thing that has not been mentioned is what a good job they did defending CR7. He really was not much of a danger the other night.

    Yes,

shame you left the other players open coz you trying to stop Ronaldo

  18. You know, nothing stops the KNVB from putting Miedema on the pitch with the Orange Lions. There's nothing in the rules that prevent us from doing so. She shoots better than what the men have been doing the last three matches.
