Macau Development Team are in Guangxi to play in the Chinese Champions League again. (The equivalent of 4th division in China.) But they lost 1-7 to Liuzhou Yuandao.

    2022 FIFA World Cup - AFC pre-qualifying

6 June 2019 Macau vs Sri Lanka
11 June 2019 Sri Lanka vs Macau

It maybe the best draw for Macau as Sri Lanka is ranked 202, the lowest of all Asian countries. Really hope Macau gets through this hurdle, then they can enter the group stages, which means 10 home and away matches for the national team.

Football Friendly on 23 July at Macau Stadium:

Guangzhou R&F (CSL) vs Southampton (EPL).

The invitational match is a part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Macau's return to Chinese rule.

11,000 tickets will be available and half the tickets will be distributed freely to Macau citizens. Southamption will also train together with the Macau national team to give them some pointers.

Macau Stadium refurbishment is still underway and may not be ready for the World Cup qualifier in June but will surely be ready for the Guangzhou R&F vs Southampton match.

Chinese Champions League (4th division in effect)

Macau Development Team 0-7 Weizhou Weixin

Most Macanese players just returned from Australia and were not really fit to play. They also had to play in Zhuhai due to Macau Stadium's unavailability.

PSG China Tour: Inter Milan in Macau, Wu Lei’s Espanyol in Suzhou and Ligue 1 curtain-raiser against Rennes in Shenzhen

French champions Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the venues and opposition for their three-stop China tour this summer.

The Parisians became the latest European football club to head to Asia this summer after many chose to stay away last year because of the World Cup in Russia.

The details were confirmed at a press conference in Shenzhen for both the annual Trophee des Champions and this summer’s tour.

Thomas Tuchel’s side’s pre-season plans in China will include three matches as they look to forget a disappointing season that saw them lose in the Coupe de France final and exit the Uefa Champions League at the round of 16.

PSG will play Inter Milan in Macau in the International Super Cup on July 27 before travelling to Suzhou where they will take on Espanyol on July 30.

The tour climaxes with the club returning to Shenzhen for the Trophee des Champions clash with Rennes on August 3.

This will be the second year that the Ligue 1 curtain-raiser has taken place at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre.

PSG lifted the trophy there last summer when they beat Monaco 4-0 in front of a crowd of over 40,000 thanks to goals from Angel Di Maria, Christopher Nkinku and Timothy Weah.

While the return to Shenzhen was expected, the trip to Macau has come as something of a surprise.

The game will mark PSG’s first trip and Inter’s first return for 20 years.

Inter Milan are owned by Suning, the Chinese electronics retailer, and the game is part of their own visit to Asia this summer, their first in two years

That match will take place at the 16,000-capacity Macau Olympic Sports Centre Stadium.

They will also play Manchester United in Singapore on July 20 and a game against Juventus that is expected to be played in mainland China.

PSG will travel to Suzhou to play another Chinese-owned team, Espanyol. The Barcelona-based side have seen their profile in China raise since they signed Chinese international striker Wu Lei from Chinese Super League champions Shanghai SIPG in the January transfer window.

Asia pre-season tours: Barcelona, Manchester clubs and Juventus lead visits to China, Japan and Singapore

PSG have made a push into the Chinese market in recent years. They signed up a Chinese e-sports team, LGD Sports, and also opened a fan experience zone in Shanghai last year.

At the time, the club claimed to have 1.5 million fans in China and be the best supported French club in the country.

They also announced a grassroots project in Shandong. “Perhaps we will be able to find China’s Neymar through the project,” Fabien Allegre, merchandising and brand diversification director at PSG, told the Sports Pro website.

In the meantime, Chinese fans will have to make do with a visit from PSG’s Neymar and his teammates this summer.

They will hope that it is not like the summer of 2017 when he visited for a promotional tour that coincided with his transfer from Barcelona to the Paris side.

Instead, they will hope that the Brazilian will be joined by France’s World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe and a host of star-studded summer signings.

Macau announced its squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup pre-qualifiers, to be played on 6 and 11 June against Sri Lanka.

I cannot find an English squad list:

8 players from CPK, 5 players from Benfica Macau, 4 from Ka I. These 3 clubs are the big contributors. Then of course there is striker Leong Ka-Hang of Lee Man (Hong Kong).

    MUST CPK 1:1 Benfica Macau

Drama after the match. Benfica captain Cuco was allegedly attacked by C.P.K. player Diego Patriota, with Cuco suffering a broken nose, but the referee did not signal any foul nor did he stop the match.

Following this incident, Benfica director Duarte Alves voiced his grievances after the game: “Intentional aggression against a player, where the images don’t lie. The Referee doesn’t stop the match, let alone penalize the aggressor. Our player needs to go to hospital, and there is no ambulance at the stadium… The referees make mistakes, but they are immune to everything and nothing changes. If anyone says something or raises his voice, they get expelled from the field. It is not the first time, and other clubs also complain about it. Is this what the sport is really about? Is it really what Macau sport and the top representatives want? It makes no difference to them. Is it really worth to continue supporting the game? I don’t think so…”.

Duarte Alves is not a happy fellow. I hope this is not the end of Benfica Macau.

Macau Daily reports that, for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match, Macau FA has applied to AFC to move their home match against Sri Lanka to a neutral venue, due to repairs at Macau Stadium.

What a joke. Why could they not begin the repair work earlier like September 2018? Now they can't even play their World Cup home match at home. All the people at the Macau Sports Bureau and Macau FA should be fired.

The Macau Daily sports columnist said MFA has applied to use stadiums in nearby cities, so that very likely includes Hong Kong as a potential host. Another possibility is Zhuhai, their Sports Ground is largely unused, but the China FA may not be so easy to deal with.

With the strong link between Lee Man and Macau FA, I am guessing they are applying to use Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground. Mongkok Stadium is quite unlikely as Hong Kong is hosting Chinese Taipei on 11 June but not impossible.

I really hope Macau wins against Sri Lanka and qualify for the group stage. Their players need the competitive matches.

MYSTERIOUS FOOTBALL MATCH CASE STILL UNCONFIRMED

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the press conference of the 66th Macau Grand Prix, President of the Sports Bureau (ID) Pun Weng Kun said that, “so far we have nothing to add concerning what we previously announced about the football match that has been discussed in society.”

According to Pun, the only confirmed match involves Southampton F.C. and Guangzhou R&F F.C. on July 23, and is being organized as part of celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the MSAR.

As for the July 27 match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Inter Milan, Pun continued to say that “so far, the ID has not received any requests for the use of the facilities of Taipa’s Olympic Stadium.”

When asked about a possible deadline for the request in order to make the match possible, the president of ID answered, “usually the requests are made at least one or two months ahead of the event date.”

However, he stressed that the ID was not “closing the doors to the possibility [that] such an event could take place in Macau,” merely that, “if the request arrives we need to analyze it and see if there are the conditions for it to happen.”

This report says the organizers of the Paris SG vs Inter Milan match, Shenzhen Kaisa Group, has finally made an application to use Macau Stadium on 27 July.

I guess Macau's Sports Bureau are just super envy of the match that is seemingly upstaging their own: Southampton vs Guangzhou R&F on 24 July.

Also interesting to note is that the organizer Shenzhen Kaisa Group just turned down a friendly match between their club Shenzhen City FC subs and Macau national football team. It is quite baffling why Shenzhen Kaisa Group won't hold the match either in their own city of Shenzhen or in Hong Kong...

Macau's finall 23 players for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Sri Lanka. A big shame is that Hong Kong based Lee Man FC striker Leong Ka-Hang is nursing an injury and is out of the squad.

I hope Macau's attack will be good enough against Sri Lanka. The South Asian are not as poor as their ranking suggests.

The match tickets for the "home" match in Zhuhai can be collected at Macau FA's office at room GS10-11 at the Olympic Stadium. Each person can collect 4 tickets. I don't know what happens if people just show up at Zhuhai Sports Centre on 6 June at 7:30pm...? I believe many Zhuhai citizens would love to attend the match and cheer for Macau, but with no tickets available at the gate this maybe a problem.

Macau national football team are off to Zhuhai to prepare for the Sri Lanka match on Thursday. I hope they win it and make it through to the second round, but I have no faith on their coach. Why can't Macau Govt put in some funding and get the national team a foreign/professional coach?

Macau FA has shuttle bus available for fans travelling to the Zhuhai Sports Centre from Gongbei (border between Zhuhai and Macau). Fans must have a match ticket to board the bus. Limited number of tickets will be available to Macau fans who has Macau ID cards. I don't know if Zhuhai or Hong Kong citizens will be allowed entry... they should let the locals enter the stadium. Tomorrow is Dragon Boat Festival holiday and I am sure many Zhuhai locals will not mind staying out late tonight.

Announced crowd of 901 people last night which is probably larger than what they would've gotten in Macau.
