$75k per a tweet from Goff.

Not sure if real money or Garber bucks.

I think $75K in some form of Garberbucks.

Since when has DCU ever been quick to fire anybody? If anything, the organization is too loyal. I don't care how transient coaching is, Williams leaving after just a few months on the job stinks for DCU. Sure he's loyal to Arena, but in other major leagues coaches wait until after the season to make these types of switches -- unless it's a head coaching gig. What Williams did is extremely rare.

He was the coach of the USL team. It's really not worth the stress.

Two examples -- Jesse Marsch left RBNY to be an assistant in the Bundesliga midseason, Viera left NYCFC midseason to coach in France and one of the assistants in Philly just left to join his brother who is a head coach in Germany. This happens all the time, it's a transient profession. I barely knew Williams was in Loudoun, I'm already over his leaving. There's another guy in place already -- until he moves on or gets fired.

Both were also assailed by the media for doing so mid season.

I consider Ives Galercep and the few soccer writers out there as media. His website and the NY Times took those coaches to task for their mid-season departures. It was also clear that NY Red Bulls and NYCFC were small time compared to their destinations -- which is my ultimate point. DCU is small time now when compared to the Revs (and their purported vision now that Bruce is on board). Let that sink in.

Williams didn't coach DC United though, he coached Loudoun United a first year team that didn't have a roster until a day before the first game.

I believe we all would agree that LUFC is small time compared to any MLS outfit and the same for any other USL club.

I would hardly call NE the "big time" even with The Bruce. Now as compared to Loudon sure but no better than DC United.

You're helping my overall point that DCU isn't fully committed to this minor league vision and Richie leaving is just another symptom of that.

NE is about to pass DCU. I know they have been a laughing stock for a while now, but times are changing. It's odd seeing some folks become DCU organization apologists (Not Shawn) on this thread. I don't see Bruce ever coaching DCU under the current organization. The article below and others I've read indicate that Arena would only go to NE if they did things they we he got used to in LA.

We'll see in two-three years. I know you think DCU is a juggernaut, but this team is a middling franchise right now. It won't take much to pass current ownership, Kasper and Olsen. See also -- Swansea.

They are committed enough to build a stadium for the team.

The team, that stadium are all a front for a real estate development organization. I wonder how much they got for renting our new stadium to SUM and the USSF combined with the cut they got back from SUM for the game's profits.

I wonder when our team party is going to be? My rep did actually promise it when I told him the Qatar Embassy thing was announced and I told him was shit that this was how they were dressing up the preseason party.

If you look back on the original STM solicitation, that and whole lot more was suggested.

Um.... the FO is in business to make money. It's "their" stadium nor "ours" because they are paying the construction bills. My long term concern is that Levien has no money, he relies on surrounding himself with folks who actually have the money, but as a condition, Levien won't take money if he loses control over the team. That was what blew up the deal with the LA doc -- he wanted control because he was bringing the money. Steve Kaplan appears OK with letting Levien spend his money. I also think Levien actually is enthusiastic about soccer, he does "care" about the results. Problem is that he has no expertise. I'm enthusiastic about Formula 1 racing, that doesn't mean I could manage a team (well actually I might do better than Williams:)).

I sit right behind Levien's box, he's a big fan, it matters to him when a goal goes in, a call goes against us, but he's a complete ********ing rube when it comes to running a sports franchise. While I am sympathetic to him, one fan to another, the difference is that he's actively trying to drain my wallet via my fandom while doing a shit job of running the team. As I said last year, he's a junior Danny Boy Snyder. Loves the team, but can't get out of his own way and manages marginal financial success by ********ing over as many fans as possible and hasn't bothered to look across town to see how its done right (more right?) by Leonsis. He's got himself a well culled group of backers. What you describe as the scenario here is what it was like in Memphis with the Grizzlies where they figured him out and shit canned him inside of 2 seasons. The fan base ********ing despised him. If we hoist a trophy, its a different story. I smile every time I sit down at my desk in my office at home and look at my Stanley Cup ring. Ted literally got one for everyone, makes everyone feel welcome and makes everyone feel like they're receiving a good value for the investment in the team for tickets, food & beverage, gear, parking and whatever else they're selling. I spend much more freely at CapOne than I do Buzzard Point.

LOL, but nope - last F1 race I watched, Lewis won by specifically going as slow as he possibly could and stay out front :)

The key (in team management, not F1*) is the people in key positions being empowered to do their jobs properly, including having enough people to do it. The FO is such a mess it makes everything else really hard to make work at the high level needed to win things. Putting empowered people actually in charge is hard for some people because it means relinquishing some control (and your $) and I'm sure we've all worked for people who made things worse by not being good at that.

    * pretty sure the key in F1 is 85% cash

plus, most (good) coaching contracts have clauses to let them out for other opportunities.
