Japan got a goal disallowed for offside by the VAR, but the broadcast doesn't even bother showing the replay for viewers at home.:cautious:

edit: Yeah, they finally show the replay like minutes later. Failing Broadcasting 101.

Japan down 0-1 with 6 minutes to go.

This is what happens when you don't take your chances.

There was a stretch of time when they had the better chances by far.

Unbelievable, they played very good and have 3-4 real good chances. Especially the Chance when 4 Japanese Players are running alone in front of South Koreas goal and only 1 defender and goalkeeper was there and the japense forward don't want to pass the ball and hit the post. It was impossible to not score in this situation.

South Korea was not bad but Japan played a almost perfect game but like often they can't score. What a shame.

Do they ever teach those boys back home on how to read a situation? That example in particular was the most infuriating of all.

Kageyama game management deserves some scrutineering here. How can a team that has an extra 2 days rest tires quicker. We give Koreans chance to conserve their energy for the second half. The refereeing was appaling though, Senegal knows we were better team so they choose the Koreans over us as next opposition:ROFLMAO:

Those Senegalese have been nothing but a bunch of salty wankers ever since last year.

Yeah, Kageyama needs to be severely criticized on his management efforts.

At least we played better, it's a meagre consolation (I didn't expect this performance due to our absents)

But we lost in the end, as often against Korea, whatever our level and their. #PetPeeve

Hopefully the JFA can draw some lessons on this. Maybe it is not just pure coincidence that Japan keep stopping at the RO16 recently. The WC, this U-20 tournament plus the one 2 years ago plus losing against England by penalties at the U-16 1-2 yrs back.

Japan really need to learn how to treasure their chances. Anyway, fair play to Korea. They have been lethal at the counterattacks plus they were clearly conserving their energy in the first half.

Japan need to improve on its strategies more if they want to go further at tournaments.

Since we screwed them by playing so cowardly against Poland?
Now they screwed us, not as hard, but giving every 50-50 challanges to the Koreans were very frustrating.

By the way, how can FIFA give some refereeing task to the lad from Senegal knowing that this match winner will be their opponents in the next round? Weird.

But at this level, i'd take a better showing over result any time any day. I've been pretty happy despite some stuttering moment by Nakamura and both of our fullbacks at the final third.

I hope you're kidding. You only build something by winning matches by any means, and a winning culture starts at younger ages before it (hopefully) transpires at senior level.

Instead of following some silly ideals, Japan needs to find a way to develop ruthlessness on the job. No country will ever win anything without that.

Obviously winning the game are always nice, but only by an exact circumstances.
Remember our thrive against the Koreans some years back kudos to Takuma Asano's wonderful brace? But where is he know? The Koreans was by miles a better team that match i'm very happy for the result, but our approach proved to be our liability against better opponents at the olympic games. Moreover, the koreans get the better result at Rio.

IMO the true aim is not to win tournaments (we all know that the half of the team will not succeed at senior level, same thing for every country) but to develop good players who will be able to improve our senior team later.

Kagawa lost 0-3 against Korea at U17 level and was not even on the pitch lol

I hope that Nakamura could get his head straight. He has so much potential. The
Saitos, Miyashiro, Fujimoto, Seko, and Wakahara have the chance to be at our talent pool for A-Team in the future.

Saito Mitsuki in particular, I've already tired watching Yamaguchi, Hashimoto, the bad half of Shibasaki, and co. wearing JNT jersey.

The Koreans are having Solskjaer-esque runs of their life. Wonder how long will it last. Winning 3 out of 4 with under 0.4 xG.

Not like our previous three matches, our fullback couldn't connect to our attacker. Tagawa factor maybe? I don't like him, but certainly losing him didn't help. Miyashiro and Nishikawa is so similiar we couldn't afford playing them without different type of threat upfront.

The problem is that Korean coach change the system in HT with a substitution and change the entire landscape of the match.

Not quite, we still creating much more than them. The more disturbing fact is, we couldn't capitalize our extra 2 days rest, because we gave the Korean chance to conserve their energy in the first half. It looks like we didn't want to kill the game as soon as possible, forcing them to go full throttle right after the kick-off, and capitalize their tiredness in the second half.

The Koreans won't be able made that kind of adjustment if we were not so casual in the first half. We managed to make some good progression in the central area and importantly in the zone 14, but were caught too pedestrian to often when we need to pull the trigger.

Italy made it to the semifinal after defeating Mali.

I have a feeling that the final will be Italy vs Ecuador or S. Korea.

Definitely this will not make a difference for Kageyama neither he will feel that he is the reason of Japan’s early exit because of his bad in-game management against South Korea.
