    Great for him.
Did it about a month too late though for any Copa chances but glad he is healthy and helping America make a run in the Liguilla.

Why is it too late? Other than Falcao and Duvan, no other striker is doing anything to deserve a call up. Muriel cooled down, Borre is irregular at best, Morelos can’t keep his head, your savior Cucho will be with the sub20 and Borja fell off the planet. Or do you prefer Bacca?

If a player with 0 match fitness or rhythm like Mina can walk into our starting lineup, then I say why not.

I think it may be too late because there has been no hint of him being in the plans of Queiroz at all.
But yes, in reality if he stays on fire and leads the team to the Final with many goals he could sneak in on the roster. I just think it is highly unlikely.
I think it is more likely we see Bacca.

When did I ever say he was the savior?

Just the way you talk about him and rate him so highly. I’m just joking mostly tho.

I call it as I see it. (something I have always done on here as you know.):D
It is not really rating him highly but rather seeing what attributes he has that can help contribute to the National team that other players do not seem to have.

But whatever, this is the Mexican thread.

In theory I agree with this, but in reality it depends on the context.
The context for Mina is that he has proven to be an important defender during qualifying and in the World Cup. He has also proven that he can play at a high level despite not playing at all for Barca.

Roger could be that type of player but has not proven in yellow.
And I am not sure how Queiroz rates him or views him when applied to his system.
But with the way injuries and bad form have taken over anything is possible I suppose.

Mina is just different because of temperament and attitude he brings to the NT. We generally don't have guys who are better when they put in the NT kit or at least it takes our guys a bit to get comfortable but Mina just has fun out there...

Roger played very well tonight, America on to semis.

Ibargüen also played and did a good job on the flanks. If this guy learns how to finish a play more effectively, he’d be world class. Regardless he should be followed closely.

I’ve never been this into the Mexican league like this season, I’m almost ashamed of myself.

Queiroz or one of his scouts must have been reading this thread and agreeing with Cruzifero. ;)

Media reporting that Roger and Ibargüen are both practicing in Bogota with other players from the Colombian team. Medina too.
Let's see if any of them can impress in training to make it on to the Copa roster.

hmmm, so what's the list of 40 do exactly if it's not reinforced any federation? If they weren't on that list I don't think there's a chance unless there's injury?

They were on the list of 40 except Medina. He was added due to injury which is legit.
I am just wondering which one if any make their way unto the 23.

ah, I must have overlooked both names...after 30 it just gets kinda silly. I like Roger but I wouldn't take him for my final 23. 10 goals for an entire season with arguably the best team in Mexico is not so impressive imo. Ibarguen has a lot of speed and dribble but I feel Diaz and Cuadrado are better equipped/more intelligent in that winger position.

I said in a previous post that I think it was too late for Roger to make it and your stats do seem to back that up a bit. But you just never know since our #9s have been so up and down.

Ibargüen may have a better chance of surprising us because he plays a lot on the left wing and stays there. He has been doing that going back to Nacional.
Other than Muriel I can't think of any player who can do that on the list of 40.

Diaz is more versatile but really is not a winger. He sees himself more as a creative player but he can also play striker but he can play left wing.

I loved Cuadrado on the Left side last fall under Reyes but he usually plays Right wing.
It will be interesting to see what happens.

    4 mexicans....

Last tournament were selected 6 foreigners in the best XI of the tournament.........colombia had 5 foreigners......so not a lot of the difference..........at least their foreigners are of good quality and members of National teams...not like our foreigners......

so nothing to celebrate over mexicans...

This is a different Julian Quinones (Tolima) from the one that plays with Tigres in Mexico, that is injured, right?
