TREMBLE, PUNY MORTALS, THE CUP RUNNETH OVER RETURNS That's right, kiddos, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the oldest and bestest ongoing competition in the United States, is back for its 106th edition! This year will see 84 entrants from across the nation take to the field to determine which soccer team will reign supreme. IGNORE ALL OTHER SOCCER SUBSTITUTES! Only THE CUP matters now, lamebrain! In an exciting twist, ESPN+ will broadcast the entire tournament. From first kick to the last PK, you can beam THE CUP directly into your eyeballs. You don't have an excuse not to watch, sucker. Huzzah! You want action? We've got action. LIKE RIGHT QUICK. Prepare your bodies to get down and dirty with some hot, steamy soccering tonight; IT'S THE FIRST ROUND, Y'ALL! That's 19 tasty morsels over two nights to excite your sophisticated soccer palate. (mad props to thecup.us) If you ain't watchin', you a dumb-dumb head. And, as always, dream big, my beauties.
Gawd, I so wish that was the case. Go all out. Win five games. Take a trophy. Play in CCL. But... I'm guessing we play the D squad.
The TWO most important matches this year (sad to say) are "HELL IS REAL"!!! Do not want to walk out of those matches with my head down!!!
Good idea, @DAFCrew. He can also sell us life insurance policies for when we are forced to do shots of Malort.
I hope that's the quarterfinal game. We can't win against Chicago in the Cup. Home, away, neutral ground, rain, sunshine, competent ref or incompetent ref; it doesn't matter.
It was a fun, frenetic start to THE CUP Proper last night. Over the 10 matches, we were treated to 36 goals, three penalty shootouts, five quasi-cupsets, and this wonderfully absurd (and fluky) goal: GOAL! 🚨This one's definitely a #SCTop10 candidate! After flicking a low cross up to himself, Leonardo Fredes hits an overhead kick into the far post side-netting to double the lead for @elfarolito_npsl. What a finish. 👏👏#USOC2019 pic.twitter.com/vuKKyQN2Ov— U.S. Open Cup (@opencup) May 8, 2019 I had the pleasure of catching the match between the Richmond Kickers and Virginia United FC. Virginia played a feisty match but couldn't stand up to the big boys from Richmond, falling 6-2. Oh, and we've got nine more matches on the docket tonight (screw MLS, it's THE CUP, baby!). I'll be pulling for them Dutch Lions of Dayton to get the result in Erie, Pennsylvania. I friggin' love THE CUP!!
Brother, have you forgotten the holy words of Gaven? "Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as Guille in Sigi forgave you."
THE CUP is wild, y'all. Wouldn't be the #USOC2019 without drama ... on or off the field. https://t.co/L772CKTMhA— TheCup.us (@usopencup) May 8, 2019
The only good Dutch Lion is a dead Dutch Lion, I says. In the world of Crew Catholicism, Eddie Gaven is basically Saint Sebastian. Sure, it was a rough way to go. But oh, to be immortalized in every art gallery in Europe. What were we talking about, again?

Round 2 coming up next week, with Pittsburgh hosting Dayton, Indy hosting Lansing, and Louisville hosting Reading. The Crew will enter in Round 4, the draw for which will not be done until after the 3rd round is complete.
