Nope. The Doom Ledge stays open til there ain't no more Doom running around. There are currently theee solid candidates (us, STL, PHX). All three have money. Only one of the three has the stadium plan ready to go right now. Only one has a documented years long fan base on which to build. We've seen this movie before.
Phoenix is supposed to be shovel ready minus a final design. The question will be how much they are really willing to spend on a cooling system.
No you haven't. You did not have the Sugar Daddy owners before. Now you do. STL & PHX are #29 (almost certainly) and #30 (clear frontrunner).
Sacramento council unanimously approves soccer deal, gets immediate praise from MLS “Major League Soccer is pleased the Sacramento City Council unanimously approved the preliminary term sheet for construction of a new soccer stadium at the Railyards site should Sacramento be awarded an MLS expansion club. ”We look forward to continuing our discussions with Ron Burkle and his partners regarding possible MLS expansion in Sacramento.” That's it, I'm caving to optimism. We're almost across the finish line, folks.
Hey! Mangerson! It's all your fault! Hey! Mangerson! It's all your fault! Hey! Mangerson! It's all your fault!
There is no doom. https://www.bing.com/images/search?...poon&simid=608010846392813674&selectedIndex=0
You do realize that this new term sheet was necessary because the LAST one expired with no MLS and no stadium? And that the term sheet is non-binding?They literally signed a document that means nothing unless MLS picks Sac. Not exactly resounding support. This is a PR move timed to make an impact at MLS meetings. Not a bad thing, but it doesn’t warrant euphoria. #stillroom4doom.
The term sheet is not moving the needle. The new sugar daddy owners + MLS' glowing comments about SAC + MLS' comments about wanting to see more support from the STL business community outside of the ownership group = SAC IS IN. Just like when Garber was saying great things about Austin even though they had no bid & 2 div 2 teams had failed there. Don't you guys speak MLS? Plus, you guys can work through the winter on your stadium & be ready for 2021 opening day while STL cannot. Plus, MLS wants more warmer weather cities ASAP to help them start in March but with fewer cold weather games. Nashville, Miami, Austin, Sac are all warm or warmish (Nash) in March.
Hah! That is certainly true. But for you guys to not get a team, the following must both be true: 1) MLS prefers a STL 2022 to a SAC 2021. AND 2) MLS is stopping at 28 OR 3) MLS is not stopping at 28, and prefers unknown, incomplete bids to Sac 2021. I think both teams could be announced together, and soon. But I think SAC will be announced by the end of the month.
No doubt. Ours was steeper. At least you have a USL team that isn't going anywhere. Worst case scenario you stay where you are. Your doom ledge is like one story up. Ours was higher.
Here in LA, #MLS announces it plans to expand to 30 teams with a $200 million fee set for teams 28 and 29. Sacramento and St. Louis will make formal presentations to the expansion committee.— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) April 18, 2019 This shit is looking more and more like a Ponzi scheme.
Today is a monumental step in the process and we are closer than ever to reaching our goal of bringing @MLS to Sacramento...Full Statement: https://t.co/iXdEMZ4QPy pic.twitter.com/mr0Hh1RA5X— Sacramento Republic FC (@SacRepublicFC) April 18, 2019 Out here on the doom ledge, I am, of course, having none of it.
