Watched this game last night. It's amazing with how many great attackers this team has, Julian is still able to stand out. It sucks that he rarely gets to play striker, though. I see him eventually going to Ligue 1 for some reason... L Quinones was the real star of the match, though. Guy was an absolute terror. He's in unbelievable form...yet he might be in the worst shape of his life. Haven't seen him this heavy and low-paced since he played at Junior. Still want him back on the NT, though...
Julian plays a style I really enjoy watching. Pretty good technique, can create chances in many ways, shoot from various angles and his headers are fantastic. Can be a real weapon in the future if he keeps his head on straight. Cardona I would like to see on the Seleccion but as I said in another thread I have a feeling it will be a while until we see him again.
Oh my, how the context has changed so rapidly over the course of 24 hours. With the injury to JuanFer (man that hurts to even type on the keyboard) this could be an opportunity for Cardona to make the Copa Roster. Unless Queiroz sticks to the profile the Portuguese and Iran fans depict of him which is to just call up some other type of player and not a creative one. It will be interesting to sew how it all goes down.
So many Colombians playing I really liked Benedetti at Cali sucks he went to Mexico instead of Holland. Hope He keeps getting better. Interesting prospect.
Big match tonight with lots of Colombians expected to play. America-Tigres should be very entertaining..
That Tigres team is my guilty pleasure for whatever reason. I shouldn't like them but they are fun to watch. I hope Benedetti starts for America.
The commentators were lauding him for how much he's improved now that he's getting used to his teammates and their movement. Uribe started the match behind the striker and really wasn't too great. I suspect Nico may close out the season as the starter, and I hope he does. Luckily for him, Nico has a nose for scoring that will always get him opportunities, even when he's out of form. Just like James. The thing is, Benedetti's playing these days to score. Instead of building up play, creating, and helping in the center of the pitch, he's constantly shading the areas or holding back just to pop into the areas for loose crosses. I get it; he wants to justify his price tag. I just hope once he proves his value, which he's starting to, he remembers the other aspects of his game that made him great.
