I meant dropoff from the pre-Naperville years. I remember early 2004 attendance being hugely disappointing. Maybe it was an illusion. EDIT: Looks like there was indeed a slight uptick from 2001.
That trademark might hold since the Detroit City FC kept their trademark over the MLS Detroit City Soccer Club.
*I know it's way to to small , and even if it was big enough no one would let them build there* But.. I've always fantasized they could build on that patch east of LSD between the Ogden slip and river ... Then they could change the name to Boca Chicago.
Walking from the Roosevelt stop to Soldier field will not be seen as a major deterrent or hassle for twenty/thirty something city dwellers. It's an event in itself and adds to the gameday comradarie
I looked at the Fire stats before making my decision on 2019 Season Tickets- were they as bad as I thought? Part of that was a look at attendance. Data is from Wiki, regular season only Year Attendance 1998 17,886 1999 16,016 2000 13,387 2001 16,388 2002 12,922 2003 14,005 2004 17,153 2005 17,238 2006 14,111 2007 17,034 2008 17,034 2009 15,487 2010 15,814 2011 14,553 2012 16,407 2013 15,228 2014 16,076 2015 16,003 2016 15,602 2017 17,383 2018 14,806
The league almost folded. Attendance was dire across the league and everything bottomed out before a slow ascent forward.
Yes, and if this occurs, we can skew those attendance figures again. It will be a good thing. US v. Poland, again! Mexico v. Poland, again (on that cold, ugly Thursday? night).
Wow. This is weird. Bridgeview is super easy for me to get too, but I think for the greater good it’s best we go back to the city. I hate the rebrand idea though. I must have 20 fire scarves and countless jerseys. I’m seriously in shock right now.
Coming out of Bigsoccer retirement to post this: Soldier Field houses some of the warmest Fire memories in my heart. With that said, fvck Andrew Hauptman for killing The Fire. It was a nasty, horrible, slow death. Long live The Fire.
I know probably won't happen, but the land next to Soldier's Field (Old Megs Field) would be a nice place to build a stadium.
If the Crew can keep their team in Columbus against the wishes of the powers that be, we can keep the Fire brand after the move.
It'd be cool to have some kind of team bus run from Ogilivie/Union Station to Soldier Field on game day.
If there's a name change, looks like it's Joe that wants, considering he's forking over the money. Let's hope this means that the Hauptman era is ending.
There's a special CTA bus that runs to Soldier's Field and back to Union Station for Bears games. Would they do the same for FIRE games?
I seem to remember that they used to , at least pre-naperville era they did? I have foggy memories of walking down Roosevelt and seeing buses packed with Fire fans coming from Union Station.
Train to the museum campus AND the Michael Reese Hospital location? Maybe this would gain some traction: http://ccac.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Consolidated-Connector-PDF.pdf
If this happens, I'll need that to be true (or I'll be getting a lot of exercise) because no way am I going to drive into city and on top of it pay $25+ to park. Oswego is looking to add a Metra stop, walking distance from my house. I already have a monthly pass for work, so it wouldn't cost me extra, just would have to pay for the bus ride. Which I believe is 2.50, so it would only cost me 5.00 to get to and from the stadium.
