I have to admit since the World Cup debacle I’ve been very unmotivated to watch this team or travel to a game. Weirdly the US having drawn Cuba and Canada kinda rekindled my excitement for it as the chance the US plays in some weird obscure places like St Vincent is my favorite kind of trip.
I alluded to this in another thread but the good thing about these two teams is that we can host them in so many different stadiums and not have to worry about opposing supporters outnumbering our fans. As for the road games we know what to expect from Cuba and their baseball stadium. The Canadian poster in the other forum has said that they are thinking maybe Montreal for our match which would be a fun trip.
Dates are set. Oct and Nov are our games, home/away with Canada and Cuba. (Sept will be 2 home friendlies) From @TimB4Last: Drawn into Group A of League A alongside Cuba and Canada back in March, the USA will open the competition with a home match against Cuba on Friday, Oct. 11 (7 p.m. ET), before visiting Canada on Tuesday, Oct. 15 (7:30 p.m. ET). The next month, the USA will open the window with at home against Canada on Friday, Nov. 15(7:15 p.m. ET), before closing out the group stage at Cuba on Tuesday, Nov. 19 (7:30 p.m. ET).
Given the times, seems like the home games and the game in Canada will all be on the east coast. Would be fun to see some new cities/stadiums for the home ones. I imagine it'll be small stadiums?
It will be interesting to see what happens. I would pick maybe Connecticut for Cuba based on the time zone and location. And we usually get good Pro-USA crowds there. Canada in November will probably be in the South or in a dome. Atlanta makes the most sense to me but who knows?
given some of the new policies by the administration, that Cuba trip may be getting harder. any chance US Soccer puts together some kind of package?
Solid breakdown here. Mother in law just went, she just checked "family" and they never audited it verified. For sporting events, there is a category for that. Easy peasy. I went thru foreign country 8 years ago before it opened up, and even then it was a non issue. https://expertvagabond.com/travel-to-cuba-for-americans/
I would absolutely not do the package if you’re worried about tracking. As it is the support for the Cuban people option is still available. You just have to book an Airbnb and eat at private restaurants. Which is fine since the public ones are generally shit As wixson says it’s a non issue as long as you aren’t like working to promote the Cuban government or something
BMO Field for the road game at Canada on October 15. An easy place to get in and out of for US supporters making the trip.
https://www1.ticketmaster.ca/canada-mnt-v-usa-concacaf-nations-league/event/100056CCB4372854 has visiting supporters tickets for the match at BMO Field for unaffiliated fans or for anyone who doesn't want to wait on US Soccer or AO, like me. Incidentally, has anyone received the 2019 Insider scarf? Insider customer service told me that the distributor sent them out about two weeks ago. I still haven't received one and will follow up sometime next week.
Sept: mex in NJ and Uru in STL. Oct.. home vs Cuba in DC. Though not official. Nov home vs Canada in Orlando... though not official. (Word on the street) But agree that at least the October game should be announced, its 2 months away.
