Turns out they are similar. I just wanted to point out that Sac State is in a different system than UCLA, so it doesn't necessarily mean their policies would be the same or similar. Thanks for doing the legwork I was unwilling to do to get UCLA's policy.

Three days ago AD Dan Guerrero posted a letter to the UCLA community.
    https://uclabruins.com/news/2019/3/...-from-director-of-athletics-dan-guerrero.aspx
I think you will see he outlines a procedure basically the same as I outlined.

So, the admissions criteria is NCAA eligibility (2.0). and an acceptance of the assertion the athlete will succeed.
This makes it very tempting as a path to admissions.

That Assertion is usually made by the coach recruiting the player and the athletic department to the committee. The document I’ve been referring to said that the granting of special admits to a team depended on the academics of the team under the coach’s charge, i.e. the coach had the responsibility to see that the team didn’t not incur NCAA academic penalties - also not a high bar.

In fairness, most coaching contracts include substantial bonuses for team academic performance.

What succeeding academically for athletes has in the past been an issue with faculty at UCLA. The claim has been made publicly that they are guided to disciplines easier than the rest of the student body.

In fairness to the kid in question, I haven’t seen an assertion she is getting any easier academic path.

2017 or 2018? Someone said the investigation didn't start until 2018. Either way it doesn't look good for Cromwell since Isackson's admission took place before that

Is the woman still attending classes? If so, she ought to be dismissed as soon as possible. If you can cheat your way in and remain a student it will be an astonishing decision by UCLA, and any others involved. I do not care if the student knew what their parents did or not. And, there is almost no way this UCLA girl did not know what is up. She would have needed to be prepared for her 'soccer' background questions.

USC has said that they are putting holds on the students in question, and reviewing them case by case.

Sorry, I got that a bit bolluxed up, but it doesn’t really affect it all.
Fusco is on the 2017 coaching list and the 2018 list doesn’t have his name.. He was named to a position with the Earthquakes in April.

Besides, the coach of the womens team or the AAD must have presented to the committee. A Men’s coach making the presentation doesn’t make sense unless gender was misrepresented. If I were a faculty committee member I would have been scratching my head.

The only other thing I can see is a staff member did a switcheroo on paperwork.and she was never presented to the committee. But then we have a whole different scandal than we have thus far seen.

It still doesn’t explain her being on the team at practice.

Why is LBS a good contrast to USC? Because both schools have D1 women's soccer programs, but not men's.

Somewhere the indictment or sources said the false test scores/ resume was given to an unnamed coach of the women's team. So there's definitely involvement and awareness on the women's coaching staff. And if investigations really didn't start until 2018, then it doesn't look good for Cromwell because it wasn't part of a sting.

Back in the day when I was in school -- more than a half century ago  -- "disciplines easier" was referred to as "underwater basket weaving."

Well it’s a little unclear about what went where. In the case of applicant 1:

Item 94 said Singer sent a [bogus] soccer profile to Khosroshahin, (presumably in his capacity as club coach.)
Item 95 says Khoshroshahin sent the profile to Salcedo.

It doesn’t say what Salcedo did with it.

Item 96 says the parents sent transcript and test scores to Salcedo. It doesn’t say they were bogus.
Item 97 says Salcedo sent transcript and test scores to the unspecified women’s coach.

All this happened between April 6, 2016 and May 24, 2016.

Item 98 says that on June 28, 2016 The committee conditionally approved her admissions if she graduated and played soccer for 1 year.

So the questions are, who was the WOMEN’s coach, and who did Salcedo give the soccer profile to?

And of course, who actually presented the case to the committee?

    By the faculty? :)

Yeah. We didn’t think they required it be underwater if you were good enough.

    Which recalls Charles Barkley’s quote
“All I know is, as long as I led the Southeastern Conference in scoring, my grades would be fine”

Looking at the coaches for UCLA, Louise Lieberman left after the 2016 season.
Josh Walters lefts after the 2017 season

After 8 years at UCLA, Lieberman was hired as the head coach at the University of San Diego for the 2017 season
With glowing endorsement from Ellis, Cromwell, and Leslie Gallimore on her USD bio.

Walters is now head coach at James Madison.

I’m not counting volunteer coaches, etc. They wouldn’t have gone before committee.

More pleas, more names, more allegations. This is not going away anytime soon. It does not say exactly what Rudy would get in exchange for cooperating. Have to assume these were the "lesser" charges that might keep him out of jail. He decided to agree to be wired and became at least one of the major links to Singer.

Meredith pleaded guilty to two charges of wire fraud, which each carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and substantial fines.
He returns to court on June 20 to hear his sentencing fate.

The sailing coach is getting 18 months behind bars. I would be surprised if Rudy received no jail time. He only cooperated because he was caught red handed.

This video is golden. It shows what many So Cal soccer families saw - and avoided while AK was USC HC.

    Almost prophetic as AK states in the interview;

"There's a lot of (NCAA) VIOLATIONS going on out there and no one is getting turned in for them. So what happens next? Everyone thinks that they can do whatever they want."

At least AK wasn't a rat (yet). I think Bruce Pearl of Auburn and Final Four is not liked by fellow coaches cuz he is/was a snitch.
