    Holy Shit moment!!!

22 years old Stephen Eustaquio commits to Canada!
Currently with Liga MX Cruz Azul, he was dominant for his club Chaves in Portugal and was targeted by Barcelona and Manchester City.

His arrival makes Canada's midfield that much more dangerous and depth due to his versatility.

At DM, he's #1 as Hutchinson's replacement, far ahead of #2 Samuel Piette, #3 Russell Tiebert and Liam Fraser #4.

At right mid, he's also ahead of #2 Wotherspoon

    Welcome Stephen!

Do you know how severe his injury is? The reports I'm seeing out of Mexico is that he ruptured his ACL last month and is out for the rest of the season, but my Spanish is ... yeah... let's not talk about that.. .;)

He's definitely out until the fall. We won't see him suit up for Canada until the Nations League I'm afraid. Just hoping he heals correctly so he can get back to pre-injury level

His competition is Kaye and Piette I think. Teibert plays a more advanced central midfield role and Fraser is still raw.

As a CNT fan I am loving that we can actually discuss which of three or four players should fill a particular spot and still know of another player who is coming up but it still too young for real consideration. I still remember the old days when the coaching staff would be gathered around saying, "Okay, does anyone know where we can find someone, anyone, who can play position X?"

I still remember 1986 when our squad was almost entirely composed of players from the US indoor league, a captain pulled out of retirement and a couple from the ubiquitous Unattached FC

What other team(s) could Eustaquio have played for?

Will be nice if Henry and Cornelius can get some time together for Vancouver. They look good so far ...

Davies gets a few minutes with BM so it’s been a good day!!!

Unfortunately, it's going to be tough to get Davies released for as long as he's with Bayern. That's the downside of being an insignificant country with a player on a top club squad. They likely see CONCACAF tournaments as too insignificant to release him for.

They have to release him during international windows. What has likely happened here is that the CSA has decided not to enforce that obligation because it's in Davies' best interest to stay in Munich for rehab.

Doesn’t matter if he played for Guam. Bayern would have to release him if he’s called up during an international window.

How good can Thomas be in goal? Can he be our #1?

    Probably not?

Borjan seems to have that spot mostly locked up still. Thomas is closer in age to Borjan than to the young crop of keepers coming up behind him. It seems more likely that Borjan will hand the mantle directly to a younger player than that Thomas (who is about to turn 29) will become our number one.

fair point. I suppose 31 and 29 aren't really old for a GK. I have always hoped we would develop a star in goal...hasn't happened in a long time.

Still, the talent pool is deeper than ever. Excited for the future.

Nice to have an actual RB in Brault. Seems we have always played someone out of position there.

A bit surprised that Godinho wasn't started there, he's started consistently at Hearts at RB

I would be fine with that too. 2 options at RB. Pure luxury...Stalteri was the last to play the position like I would want it to be played.
