I just noticed that the pre-game email from the quakes for this game had a link to a survey. Don't know if this link will work for anyone else.

But it was a lot of questions about whether or not I knew who were the Quakes' sponsors, and then it asked a lot of specific questions about the Sutter Health sponsorship, e.g. did I know they sponsored the academy. So I guess that means the Quakes are working hard on convincing Sutter to re-sign the jersey or maybe even the academy sponsorship.

    I completed the survey.

Amazing that we never get a survey about how we feel about the team's performance.

You'll need to elaborate on why the Belgium game is "pick up her shit"

Sad that an outfit as rich as Sutter can't afford a professional survey writer.

Yes of course, the defense gave up 4 goals so let's go ahead and blame it on our attacking midfielder. Let's blame it on the guy who jumpstarted the sequences that gave us our two goals so far.

Vako, who is not a striker, should totally be faulted for missing out on 2 clutch balls. Vako, who is at fault for not learning to pass, yet cannot learn because he has NO ONE to pass to. Hoesen's ass is on the bench, Magnus is playing behind him most of the time, and the other option is a 36-year-old slow-as-molasses poacher who's basically invisible for the last 3 games and who's only playing for his record and who has already missed half a dozen sitters including one with a wide open net 8 yards in front of him with the GK nowhere in the vicinity.

    Pass my ass, to who?

Oh we're still fan, we didn't switch teams, but we certainly are going to let this ownership knows that it's time for change. Because right now, the coach, players, and GM are just a small part of the failures, the main reason for failure is CHEAP ASS OWNERSHIP, who will be calling the shots until the day they decide to move on.

And this is why we fans despair, because as long as Fisher is here, there will be no light at the end of the tunnel. Do you understand that?

If ownership didn't open the budget the last transfer window, what makes you think they're going to open their checkbook next transfer windows, or even 2.5 years from now? C'mon man, you really think Matias is going to coach this team for another 2.5 years without having any support from ownership?

i assumed that Quakes marketing department wrote up that survey, in order to convince Sutter. I don't think Sutter is writing up a survey so that Quakes can sell them a sponsorship.

    All true.

And the other 3 goals were scored after Lopez subbed in at left back. The 3rd goal he was the clown on. And the second and fourth he was one of 2 to 3 at fault.

Fullback these days is more of an attacking position than defensive. Centermid, particularly Judson’s #6 role, is far more defensive. Thompson is getting into the attack plenty.

That said, I still don’t like it. I much prefer Thompson centrally.

Good comparison. I mostly agree with this but my criticism of Jesse is that he has consistently done terrible with the money we have spent. That’s less than we like but not inconsequential.

Need a 10 to dictate. There is never a change in our tempo, nobody stands on the ball. Positive: Tommy looked good for the parts I watched

Using Liverpool as an example, do we build the attackers first then add the final pieces in the back in season 2 or 3? Versus build the defense first then add a killer goal scorer as the final piece.

Just finished watching the 1st half. Espinoza had an excellent 45 minutes. Quakes could have been up 2 or 3 goals. Game plan was to counter attack thru Eriksson as the trigger to get the ball to Espinoza & it worked 3-4 times! Wondo wasn’t very good. Vako was terrible in his finishing.
Another good 45 for Judson. He’s our best ball winner & had good long range passing too. Team likes to make long diagonal pass using Judson.
TT doesn’t have a very good all around game. His passing is suspect eg 25 yard passing along the ground.

NYRB does have a very effective style of play for MLS. All field players work very hard, press together & make forward runs into the boxes. Almeyda commented on the NYRB style & identity which is positive since can be used as our blueprint etc.

    8) “A defense that fails at basic things” has been the story for far too long in San Jose, and through three weeks new head coach Matias Almeyda hasn’t fixed it. The Quakes allowed tap-in after tap-in on Saturday in Harrison against the Red Bulls and lost 4-1.

Almeyda’s man-marking scheme is predicated upon the idea that if you win your duels all over the field, you’ll eventually win the game. San Jose are currently winning 48.6 percent of their duels, which means they’re always playing catch-up on an individual level.

Since there’s no passing runners off in a man-marking system, that’s a quick and painful death.

The Red Bulls were mostly fine coming off of Tuesday’s CCL disappointment. Light a candle for Florian Valot’s knee, though – he’s absolutely a difference-maker for this team when healthy.

True. Though an assessment may be part of their contract. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's so badly constructed

I don't know if you're making a joke (the show is called "Losers") but if not I can second that recommendation.
Sadly we're not nearly interesting enough to qualify for an episode... maybe if there was a show called "The Embarrassingly Incompetents"

the main issue I have is that Almeyda has started basically the same players in all his games. His only swap was Lopez which was one of his guys so that makes it even worse. I have to believe that Danny is better than Wondo and anybody is better than Godoy and we can probably upgrade Magnus. So while he might need some better players he does not seem to be leveraging the current roster at all.
