How many chances squandered in the first half, at least 2 by Vako. 2-0 at halftime and we might have had a different game. The Quakes can't afford to waste chances and got what they had coming for doing so.

Did Jesse under-estimate MLS 3 years in a row? Unbelievable.

I am getting a feeling that by mid season, we all will talk about how great was 2018.

You know, I used to be gutted when the team lost. It would ruin the rest of my weekend. And now...it's a gorgeous spring day, sun shining, not a cloud anywhere; the outcome of this game shouldn't really matter to anyone on this board. I hope all loyal fans can try to enjoy the day and practice instant amnesia regarding this game.

The ice cream truck is coming down the street! We skipped spring and are head-on into summer. Who cares what happened in New Jersey?

In the history of the Earthquakes (both MLS & NASL), have we ever started the season with 3 losses?

Having this team run on man-marking is much like fixing the worst team in the NFL by running the wishbone offense without any running backs. We're using an outdated philosophy that takes an athletic make up that we simply don't have.

Maybe the time is right to do something no other team in the league is doing. But count me as highly skeptical. Perhaps man-marking is a near-dead style of play for a reason.

(I'm not a student of the NFL but it was the best analogy I could think of).

I suppose the only question now is whether the team will be able to obtain at least some of the Mexican players that Almeyda apparently has wanted from the start and, if so, if those players will make a substantial difference.

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! :(

One shot on goal. Hoesen needs to start next game but Wondo is close to the record so...

I don’t really understand the advantages of the man marking system. I’ll guess I’ll read up on that because seriously I haven’t seen this done in many many decades. It would seem more appropriate if you had a flying fast team. We clearly don’t.

But our talent level is so subpar really nothing is going to work.

Lopez was a disaster today. Was at or partially to blame for 3 goals as a sub.

And Lima who he subbed out was on the first.

Bad day for the left backs.

Well, this is my surprised face. There's no way anyone could have predicted that we would lose this game by a score of 4 - 1, except for the multiple people in the pre-game thread who did exactly that.

Now I'm going to follow TyffaneeSue's advice - going to see a movie with my family and then grill some salmon we got at the farmers market this morning. It's too nice outside to let these no-talent ass clowns who run our team ruin the day for me.

Yeah, Wondolowski should have retired at the end of last year. Honestly, him getting the record at the clear expense of the rest of the team is very quickly moving him to the villain category. Of course, the coach is responsible for putting him on the field in the first place, so that's the bigger problem. Fioranelli needs to be fired immediately.

Wondo can come in as a sub and the rest of our guys can all start diving in the box to get a PK call. I'd be fine with two more PK goals to get the record, and then retirement.

Hey Quakes fans, how does it feel to be 0 & 3?

    Didn’t we all call it?

    This team is a joke!

Wondo is looking like the statue everyone wants! Vako blew two chances he should have easily gotten!

I never thought I’d live to see the day when I can’t wait to see Shea Salinas!

Our “new” keeper came from the depths of US soccer leagues, and the rest of the team belongs there. We won’t win with the current cast of characters.
