It may be tougher for Americans to play in Australia later this year under a new Australia visa regulation: https://thewomensgame.com/news/new-visa-law-set-to-block-some-imports-520366 Effective today, overseas footballers will need to sign a contract worth at least a $120,000 a year to get a work visa to play in Australia, bringing an end to low cost imports from the Balkans, north Europe and South America. Even allowing for the shortened 14-round home and away season, that averages out at just under $21,500 a week – an average $1071 a week/per player for a 20-player squad, or $823 for a 26-player squad...if the club spends the entire salary cap, which few do. But the equivalent of a minimum $120k contract for a W-League visa player on a weekly basis works out at $2300 a week – more than 10 percent of the entire team's salary budget.
That link no longer works, nor does another I saw on twitter. I'm wondering if the article has turned out to be bogus.
It's buried in a lot of noise, but it appears the W-League won't be affected by the visa change in Australia: https://thewomensgame.com/news/ffa-...op_left&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=share
