Can we please get a team back in Florida. An organization that knows what to do. I understand why both teams did not work in Florida but it's crazy that Florida does not have a team. What's your opinion. Matt DeStefano www.strikersoccersupply.com
only one, preferably in miami, but ft lauderdale will do and have an owner and management that dont suck.
yes please put a team in south florida. Only if the organization knows what the hell they are doing. The fusion was awful. South Florida should of been a no brainer. Who would of thought?
if and when they do place a team in florida i say that it should be in miami (not ft. l), orlando would be ok too but i prefer miami.
Sure lets get a MLS team in Florida. Of course I am $10 million short. Any takers? Might be some A-League in South Florida, Tampa and/or Orlando in 2005. Baby steps.
Hey, as soon as you find an investor, go for it Maybe you can talk Glazer into it, I hear he likes buying other soccer clubs
you guys deserve another team, but what you need is a managment that underestands your needs.there is enough population from the carabean and south america to suported a team. but this time the team needs to to play in miami not fort lauderderdale like the previus Good luck
if the bullet train between miami, tampa, and orlando had actually gone through, I'd be more hopeful. With so many "candidates" out there, I can't really imagine MLS coming back within 10 years unless Glazer gets ManU and wants a "Man U USA"
i think they should try again in Miami, its only fair to all the soccer fan base that there is in south florida, Orlando would be another choice maybe Ajax Orlando turning them into an MLS team and play at the Citrus Bowl... but really florida needs another chance, maybe not the next of expansion but certainly the one after.
I doubt there would be a fan base in Orlando, I went to the Orlando sundogs some time back, no one showed up. Perhaps if you put it out by Disney ( or owned ) and not the Citrus bowl ( too big no atmosphere ), and could snag a big time International that the tourists would go for ( someone like Gazza ). I feel your pain ( but only a little bit now as im moving to Denver ). John
A pro soccer team at Disney would fail even faster and harder than at the Citrus Bowl. Disney is too far from where people actually live and tourists don't want to go to a game while on vacation. Orlando needs either an updated Citrus Bowl facilty or a actual soccer stadium to work. Until then we with PDL, which is OK.
I was thinking about the large brit population in Kissimmee, and I do know Disney think about it from time to time. But you are probably right. Its not that Orlando isnt a Soccer town, its that its not even a sports town.
To be honest, I went to the Central FL Kraze's PDL Championship games. The final at UCF soccer/track field was filled with a long line waiting to get in. The benches only seated maybe 400 but the crowd around the track was much bigger. Now this is a rain storm that lasted the entire game too. I think pro soccer can make in Orlando, someone just has to put everything into it and supply a good product.
Shame on me for missing out going to the Krase, though for sheer entertainment value I'd go to watch the Bullets of Bull&Bush/FiddlersGreen throwing up on the sideline after a bender the night before. I would like to see an MLS team in Orlando even though it looks like I will be leaving. From what I was told by ex players the main problem with past CFlorida teams was bad management.
Miami used to have the Toros, which in turn became the Ft Lauderdale Strikers. The Toros moved because they couldn't draw . The Fusion failed because of poor management. They should have taken the Strikers name like San Jose did with the Quakes. They did draw well their last season though. Tampa might support a team but Orlando has no track record .
Yeah what is up with that HUGE large Brit population there in Orlando. They seem to be buying up property like its going out of style there!
I really hope that both Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa get MLS expansion teams soon. The fans in both markets did not deserve to have their teams contracted (as a matter of fact, no market's fans deserve to have their team contracted or relocated)! -G
Hey gooner (and any other Orlando peeps) a bunch of us area soccer nuts will probably be meeting up at Fiddler's Green for the Jan 28 friendly between Korea and USA (if it happens). Let me know if you want details.
Absolutley, If I havent moved to Denver by then. Its one of my 'locals' on the odd chance I get out for a beer. Was there for many games last world Cup, Great atmosphere. Are you one of those rowdy Rollins boys or one of the few faithfull US supporters in FL? So why do you support RSL?
