Officially charged and his court date is April 24th, he doesn't have to appear, just his lawyer has to. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...-charged-first-degree-solicitation-prostitute
Well, they're not going to make him sell either team, and even if he did decide to "retire" as the official owner of either or both teams, his imbecile son will be no better. As much of a Kraft critic as I have been at times, there's nothing to gloat about here. It's just sad all around. The problem with a lot of very rich and powerful people is that they surround themselves with yes-men (and women). We all need someone there to whack us upside the haid and tell us not to do something stupid. Myra was that person for Bob Kraft. Several years ago, the Pats had used their top draft pick on a guy who had (unproven) rape charges against him in college, and a number of "bad character" incidents. Even after they drafted him, Myra was the one who convinced Bob to cut him loose because he was a shitty human being, even if he might have been a good player. I don't follow the NFL enough to know if another team picked him up, but that was clearly her influence. She also was involved in lots of philanthropic efforts and other good causes. By all accounts, she was a great person. When Myra died, there was no one to tell Bob what he needed to hear, not what he wanted to hear.
This. Not to excuse him for this, but when my first wife Jana died in 2012, I was pretty much a basket case for a couple of years. Sometimes it was all I could do to get out of bed in the morning.
I find it tediously boring. Dog-bites-postman. Quakes-don't-qualify-for-playoffs. Lawyer-professes-client's-innocence-in-the-face-of-overwhelming evidence-of-guilt.
I just saw a description of the videos, which is phrased in specific but very formal terms. The second one is just horrifying: Kraft removes all his clothing and lies face up on the table. The woman then places her head in his pelvic region for a period of.....AAAAAHHHH. NO MORE, I BEG YOU Im sure at some point these videos will leak and it will take a stronger man than I to intentionally watch a wrinkked old 77 year old naked man get a hummer. Ew.
The description is in a tweet posted in this thread recently. For me, the most hilarious is the time frame. I think it was something like 6 or 7 minutes from when he went into the room until the woman cleaned up with a towel. And that happened twice in two days, but--and I assure you - - he didn't know he was going for a (very quick) happy ending either time.
Florida's version is called the Public Records Act. It is under Chapter 119 of Florida Statutes. Fortunately for soccer fans, we have FIFA goal line video technology. What's to say Mr. Kraft didn't go in for a legitimate, perfectly legal massage only to coincidentally find that the lady servicing him happened to be the true love of his life? True love at first sight thereby leading to consensual extracurricular activity? Could it be? I wouldn't believe it either.
A writer at the Philadelphia Inquirer said the other day that no matter what the legal, NFL or MLS outcome of this, it's going to be in the second paragraph of Kraft's obit some day. He'll never be able to escape it, and that's a serious sentence.
Some of Kraft's possible defenses: https://nypost.com/2019/02/28/how-patriots-owner-robert-kraft-could-get-off-in-prostitution-case/
The main principle applies here. Until now Kraft has been a superstar, admired and loved and all that crap By everyone but soccer fans of course. Now, it just doesn't matter how this turns out. Hes now the old guy getting his weasel greased in a strip mall handjob parlor and will be forever more No other details matter.
Law enforcement hyped the arrests as rounding up "monsters" who had sex with slaves forced to service a thousand men a year. In Kraft's case at least, it turns out he didn't. The 2 women he received services from aren't young and are established residents of Florida, not slaves shuttled around every couple of weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if prosecutors dismiss the case against Kraft. He can afford to dissect their tactics which would endanger their cases against other defendants. It will be hard for the prosecution to explain why they have video but not audio. The pretextual traffic stop to get a passenger's ID is also questionable.
