ha! I can't imagine...Jackson Heights was as close to a Little Colombia as I've experienced. It seems it's still pretty ethnic nowadays but much more of a mix.

Salty pandebonos are the only pandebonos. I grew up on those getting them nice and warm in thr bakeries in Cali. I still cant find a place in Ny that sell "maranitos".

Ahh for sure. That area was always diverse but 82nd street and roosevelt to northern blvd is still predominately Colombians with some hipsters in the mix. I was there a few days ago and went to a colombian steakhouse called ' La boina Roja" on 80th and 37ave i really recommend it.

He was talking about me. To be fair I do eat it at a pretty ghetto spot. They prob don’t use the best meat or sanitation ratings

LOL...you are freaking insane.... How can you be a 'real picky eater' and yet IGNORE sanitation ratings ...yuk! I've had great food at dives, so location doesn't matter. My wife being a chef and all talks to me all the time about how nasty some kitchens can be and how regardless of budget, maintaining an orderly and clean kitchen at ALL times is critical - food poisoning is the worst experience! She hates seeing cooks in their Chef's whites walking around the street as if it's cool to be seen in their uniform.

Not many options for “classy Colombian places” unless I go to NYC.

When I need my chicaron fix I go to where it is.

As for sanitation ratings that’s just a white person thing. In Colombia the dude is picking his nose, scratches his ass and then gives you the best arepa you ever had on the street for $1

So my grill finally passed away last week... After being exposed to the elements for years the rust made it unable to stand and like a horse I had to put it down:

But since I am not someone to stays in the past I went to buy this awesome motherfucker:

This is a barrel grill made with pure steel.. This bastard uses less coal and reduces the smoke to a minimum without reducing the heat....

This boy can cook all kinds of meat (you Hang the meat from the top and it cooks with indirect flames.. pure heat and smoke).

I have to Say that the food that comes from it is really delicious and really tasty.. I have converted to the Church of the Barrel and I have come here to to evangelize you heatens !!!!

Edit: .One of the good things is that the company that Make these are from Medellín, so when buying it I supported Colombian industries :)

Sorry just saw this. Yes it’s the same place thing is they moved from that old building and built their own place. It’s still on 7th street and the neighborhood is being gentrified.
