Credit also to Steffan for great distribution and Ramirez for quickly flicking the ball on to Lletget.
This Costa Rican team was not good. They had very little threat going forward. They were tactically better than Panama and had couple more technical players. We need pace on the wings. Like to see Amon, Gall in the mix to see if they can provide depth. That is if the fit the culture or whatever.
I had so much fun watching that. I mean, I get that we were playing some guys who probably won't even be in consideration for big tournaments, and I get that this was Costa Rica's C team, but it was so refreshing and exciting to see our guys busting their asses, pressuring the ball, winning tackles, turning the ball upfield, and attempting the incisive pass. A lot of those dudes played like their lives depended on it. I'm happy we won -- but I'm far happier to see the excitement and intensity return to the USMNT. I can't wait to see our Europe-based guys out there. [./sunshine pumping]
I need to see more of a sample size with Zimmerman before Id call him a lock but I think he should be in the rotation. Hes done ok in the past and did well vs 2 toothless opponents.
Basically it's 3 cb's, right? I"d play parker or ream there. ream is getting old so Parker. Parker can baby sit Brooks. That way we get Brooks' passing. Mntime, Parker has to work on his passing.
The second half was loads better than the first, but I even went into halftime feeling like there were positives. I forgot to say it in my original post, but I really like Lima. Of course, I like Cannon, too. And then there's Yedlin. And Dest looks promising. Dear God. My kingdom for a left back!
One of the CR guys that came off the field was a part time pastry salesman.... Think he might have beaten Zardes a few times... Just sayin'
No worries man it wouldn’t be taken confrontationally. It’s a fair question. LB is bleak in the pool. If we’re gonna play this type of system I’d probably have gone with a quick CB who’s comfortable with his left foot.
Yea Lima is basically playing in the mid. Reminds me a lot of what JK tried to do with Brad Evans at RB. Evans was just old and wasn’t as athletic as Lima is. There’s a few players that could play the role. Parker is one of them.
Arriola is a right wing and occasionally right back for DC United. I've never seen him play on the left side. So today he started on the left and put in 3-4 excellent left-footed crosses. Then he moves to the right and scores a goal.
Not sure. Wasnt paying attention during the substitution. I just heard the announcer make the comment, and I looked up and the player was already off. Was going to rewind but I was too busy reading you boneheads on bigsoccer.
There were maybe 12-13K there. Not sure what you were seeing. It seats 18K, and was probably 2/3 full.
I guess it boils down to expectations. Unable to fill an 18k stadium to my standard is pretty sad... especially for a US game... that’s on a weekend. Put that game in Atlanta and the crowd is 50k easily.
I loved the look on his face. Runs to the end line, stops, peers into the crowd, then his face lights up with a "oh, look! There's Lletget! ? Ok!" and lofts it to Lletget. That was hillarious
